I have the 18" Python wheels on my 2015 C4P and need new tyres. Michelin Pilot Sport 3's 225/45 R18 95V are fitted. What tyres have you fitted and what's your recommendation?

I see several alternatives but many only with a 91 load index which I'm lead to believe may compromise your insurance if you fit a tyre with a lower load index than manufacturer advises.

A set of Pilot Sport 3 XLs with the 95 load index is around £615 fitted around here. Ouch!

I fitted Firestone Firehawks a couple of times to my SAAB 9-5 and C5 tourer, available with the higher load ratings and perfectly OK for my needs (long distance mainly motorway cruising, not that worried about saving the odd 1/10th of a second on the twisty bits) . Have a look on Blackcircles.com. In that size, you might not save much.

When I recently bought my C4GP, it was sitting on the same wheels as yours. I absolutely love those rims, but needed all season tires, so asked for 4 new Michelin Crossclimate in 225/45r18. And they're just great. Silent, and very comfortable for a 45 tire. So would definitely recommend them. Albeit they are not a cheap tire. Looked them up and price was around 150£ a piece.

I have fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 4 95Y XL, at present ~£160 each. Seems to be the only Michelins available in that size in XL apart from BMW and Mercedes run-flats.

My originals lasted 22,000 miles, better than on my previous 2 cars. How many miles did others get?

Ive used Davanti DX640 in recent years, its a budget tyre but has excellent euro ratings. They wear well, quiet and excellent wet weather performance. Well work a look as a full set is less than £400.

Michelins were on 6 week back order when I needed two new front tyres, so settled for Avon ZZ5 @ £126 each. Seem OK and have done almost 7000 miles on them now.

The Michelins were worn out @ 17,000 miles.

I've just looked at the dealer's website, where I bought them and Avon don't seem to be a product that they supply any longer.

Does seem to be a problem with Michelin. On at least one occasion I couldn't get them for my last C4GP. Also when I wanted some for my daughter's Panda, that size wasn't readily available.

Have a look on tyreshopper.com, I find they are always cheaper than black circles.

That's not to bad, the four 19" Michelin PS3's on my DS4 left me a few drinks worth of change from £900...

Just had a look at F1 for tyres for our daughter's C1 vtr+ and your right they are cheaper than most. If only they where a bit closer to me.

Yes, I checked Blackcircles and Tyreshopper, and they were more expensive than F1. Unfortunately for many, they are mainly in the south. As a matter of interest, I took my C3 in for a service at the agents, and they told me that an exhaust bracket has broken. They quoted upwards of £80 to fix it. So I took it to F1, and they welded it for me for nothing, presumably as they know me as a regular customer. (No connection other than a very satisfied customer)

Reading the comments about tyre life here I'm relieved my C4P Exc+ came with 17 inch wheels. I replaced the first pair of factory fitted Michelins at 34,000 miles, the other 2 still have 3-4mm of tread left at 37,000 miles.

I have fitted 225/45 R18 95V Pirelli Cinturato P7 Seal Inside tyres.
I can really recommend these tyres, also have them fitted on my wifes BMW. they are far better than run flats and reseal themselves if the get a puncture up to 5mm, which is handy when the car does not have a spare.

Hello
Well if you will have racing car wheels!
Just had a look on the net for my standard wheels correct rating tyres between £40 - £101
I'm afraid the motor trade is taking us for a ride again especially as the maximum speed in this country is 70 and indeed my average over the last 3000miles was 30!
Just a thought John
