Hi Everyone,

Picked up a 2014 C4GP yesterday in Shark Grey with Exclusive+ trim to replace an aging Mazda 2. Initial impressions are very good. I like the elevated driving position, sense of space, easy of driving and the extensive toys and gadgets. The radar guided cruise control is quite clever but I’m not sure how much I’ll use it.
I was not expecting to be overly impressed by the Sat-Nav based on comments/posts I’ve read on here but I actually found it worked really well on my 70 miles return journey. Certainly no worse than the system in my Audi A6.
The stop-start function is a tiny bit little slower to restart than on my Audi but the release of the parking brake, when pulling away, feels smoother.

From reading the forum I think this is one of the Exclusive+ models with the sweet spot of specifications as it has x2 USBs in the compartment near the gear lever.
I do have a couple of questions I’m hoping people can help me with.

1) The car came fitted with a set of Citroen roof bars which I will put to good use transporting ladders and long lengths of timber. I purchase the car from a non-Citroen dealership and they did not know how those roof bars could be removed. When I look at the attachment bracket I can see what looks like a plastic star shaped socket with the number 82 embossed on the inside. Can I get a key, presumably from Citroen, to fit the star socket to enable the bars to be removed?

2) My car is a 1.6 diesel model and does not have a spare wheel fitted. I do have the puncture repair kit but want to check what else it should have come with as it was not totally clear to me when I checked the manual. I have a towing hook, in the boot space behind the 3rd row of seats, but I do not have and wheel chocks, jack, wheel nut spanner. I do have the locking wheel nut adapter. Am I missing anything I should have received?

3) What do other Exclusive+ owners use to clean the chrome/mirror trim on the boot? Mine is perfectly fine but very slightly tarnished with what looks like a cleaning fluid in a few places.

4) Auto main beam function. Can I just check that this is activated by an extended pull back on the lighting control?

5) Ventilation to the 3rd row of seats. Is this something that I have to turn on or activate in the settings? They will very rarely be used but I’d like to know they are available and working so I could keep my dog cool when she is transported in the boot.

Overall I am impressed with the car and my wife gave lots of positive feedback after using it on her work commute this morning. My only slight niggle is the sizing on the cubby holes and bottle holders, i.e. none of them are suitable to securely hold a sports bottle. The ones in front of the gear lever are too small and the space in the door far too big. Looks like I’m going to have to use the large sliding compartment, behind the gear lever, unless I’m being daft and missing something obvious.

1) Correct, there should be two plastic "keys" supplied with the roofbars, but undoubtedly a dealer can replace for a price

2) Stock has no spare wheel, it's an optional extra on 1.6 (wasn't available on 2.0 when I got mine due to exhaust routing I believe)

3) Can't say - have never really bothered (as yet)

4) Wasn't an option this time last year

5) 3rd row ventilation is a distinct ceiling based control unit - an optional extra. Should be very visible if it's there (quite chunky)

Thanks proinnsias.
I'll contact my local Citroen dealer (Swansway Chester) to see about getting a set of roof bar keys. Just hope the parts dept. is more competent that the sales people.

My car has the 3rd row vents in the ceiling but when playing last night I could not get any air flow to come out with the fan fully on and the air directed to either head, feet or face settings.

No, I don't think you are. As there is no standard spare, they don't expect you to need jacks, etc.

The function can only really be tested when it is dark and there is no other lighting around. It is sensitive enough that headlights, streetlights and rear lights are bright enough to prevent main beam. Ensure that the system is switched on through the 'driving' menu (the one with the diagram of the car) Just pull back the stalk as you would normally and the auto function indicator should light on the dashboard. I find it very good!

Thanks routemaster1.

I can see the logic, no need to jack up if unable to replace the damaged wheel/tyre with a non existent spare.
I did manage to get the auto function indicator showing on the dashboard but was unsure exactly how I did it. It was not very dark outside and the dipped lights were active in the auto mode. I could not manually activate full beam but I could flash them. I'll have a play on the quiet unlit country roads where I live.

In the settings of the heater controls there should be an option to turn on rear vents.

Finally managed to remove the roof bars with the help of a Dremmel and a couple of cutting discs.
Nothing drastic, but it was proving impossible to source the plastic star shaped key needed to unlock the bars.
Using x2 disc sandwiched together, I cut a slot in the plastic nut type thing big enough to fit a large flat bladed screwdriver. With the screwdriver I was then able to unlock the bars and remove them from the car.
Once the bars were off, I dismantled the locking mechanism, give it a clean, re-grease and cut a larger slot in the plastic with the Dremmel.
Now a 2 minute job to attached and remove the roof bars when needed.

I missed this, somehow

There's an option on the extended Aircon settings (arrow thing on the left of the main aircon screen) to activate "Rear" .. would that have anything to do with it ?

Thanks proinnsias, I'd managed to find that option in the settings and all is working fine. My dog is happy to be travelling in cool comfort.
