Hi all, Long time member of the site, since I had my first C4 coupe back in 2006. Had been away for a number of years but am back now as I've just bought a 2014 Grand Picasso Ex+ 2.0HDi EAT6 and I'm really loving it so far. Just getting used to all the toys, have to say the active cruise is great, among other things. I have noticed though that the top screen stays on for ages after I have got out and locked the car, is this normal? I was in it last night and got out and locked it. About ten or fifteen minutes later I looked out of the house and could see a glow in the cabin, the big screen was still on, but the car was locked okay. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this. I checked my firmware version and it's 5.1 something, should I update it to 5.42.b.R4? Thanks |

Hello and welcome. Very similar car to mine. My top screen failed on me from new, back in 2014 and was eventually replaced. I have recently been advised it requires replacement again as part of a workshop recall. I've put it off until before my warranty expires later this year, as I have not had any problems since 2014 with it. I've always noted that the top screen always stays on for a few minutes after locking, but certainly not ten or fifteen minutes. This doesn't sound right. I would definitely not suggest carrying out a firmware update yourself. These updates bring very little enhancement and your dealer is best placed to look into any issues. I would ask the question of your dealer before your three year warranty expires. |

Thank you for the reply, I believe that is the same software version as mine but I'm not beside the car to check. I think I will leave it and see how it behaves.

It really is a lovely car, mine is shark grey. Doesn't have xenon's unfortunately but I was surprised to see that the front indicators are led, I had thought they were only LEDs on the xenon equipped cars.

No, the LEDs were originally fitted to all Exclusive +s and an option on Exclusives. Mine has them with halogen headlights. I believe it has now been changed, and they are standard on Exclusives as well. |

Sorry I get a bit too enthusiastic about LED lighting on our cars! Yes, the six LED front DRL/indicators look so much better than the four LED versions, which are paired with the conventional front indicator bulbs. I see quite a lot of these lower spec cars locally, and when they are indicating it just doesn't look as ‘sharp’ as our own cars. The Citroen handbook we have, implies that the six LED version is fitted on xenon headlamps only, but that as Routemaster1 says, isn't correct. I must admit though, on my own xenon equipped car, the combination of lighting looks great. I love seeing the reflection of the front directional headlights (which swivel left or right when steering/cornering) and the indicator switching from DRL to indicator. Also the fabulous 3D rear tail lights, especially on the GP. Helped by the fuller interior mood lighting (fitted on cars before 2015). I still do not understand at all though, what the PSA group are doing with regards to strategies for LED lighting on their cars. It’s just such a mish-mash on our own vehicles. None of their range of cars it seems, have rear LED indicators (even the brand new 3008) for some strange reason. The same inside the C4P/GP, where LED lighting is fitted around most of the car and looks great, but the boot lighting, foot wells and front cubby are still conventional bulbs! I've also noticed that my C4GP also has an LED for the reversing light, which I don't think you get on any of the C4P's, but conventional bulbs for the number plate? Recently, it seems to be changing, with new car models, certainly on the new 3008 and the revised Renault Clio, in that these cars DRL now turn on the front and rear lights as well. This I guess is responding to the real issue over the last few years with people who drive around with no headlights on, except their front DRL. They merrily drive not realising that their rear lights are not illuminated in this situation. |

Yes the rear LEDs really look good! Strange that the indicators are not LEDs on the rear though, when they are on the front! I think it's a bit strange that Citroen have not fitted Xenon's on the Exclusive plus as standard though. Back in the day I had an old 2007 C5 Exclusive and that model had Xenon swiveling lights as standard. |

I just checked it again there and yes the top screen is staying on for ages after locking the car. I think it must be staying on until economy mode kicks in, because when I went out to the car it was in economy mode.

Thanks for checking it out. At a loss as to why it does that, everything else seems fine.

Hi beemanga, I also picked up a 2014 C4GP Exclusive+ yesterday. I've just checked my display and like routemaster1 mine stays on for ~30 seconds.

Hi, I've had my 2016 Exclusive since 17 March and agree that the top screen shuts down in less than 45 seconds. Something worth investigating if you are still in warranty. My firmware has been brought up to date with 5.42.B.R4. Also, I am fortunate to have the included Map updates and that has just been updated to 2017-1 which was released recently. Danger Zones were updated last week to the most recent release. I agree that the built in SatNav is well worth using once you find out its various quirks. |
