Hi,

On my C4 2012 with climate control, when clicking on the air recirculation it doesn't stop the airflow and also insert odours from the outside hence I think the I have a failure with it.

Please let me know what should I check...

Air recirculation doesn't stop the airflow, it stops the air being pulled in from outside - however, for it to operate properly you need to select air recirculation before any smells come in the cabin, once they are in it will clearly recirculate this air. For example, driving along if you see a bank of smoke coming from a filed then select air recirculation before you get to it, if you wait until you can snore it then you are too late.

Air recirculation never stops the airflow. On every car it recirculates the air already in the car (hence the name...). If you want to stop all airflow the turn the fan off.

The fan is off of course but I can still feel the airflow.
On let's say my father Corrola when the fan is off and air recirculation in on (intake inside) I don't feel any air flow when we drive.

Maybe the small plastic cogs that drive and shut off the outside airflow are worn are slipping and not doing their job.
Seeing your a premier member you should be able to access aircon manual that should give you part number and location of your problem area

If your car has climate control then I think it won't permit you to have the fan on and air recirculation activated - you would be able to in a manual air-con/ non-A/C car with a mechanical switch but you ought not to.

Actually, from memory I think the manual A/C in the C4 still has an electronically controlled recirculation switch

I've just been out for a play, Mine has climate control!
With the fan running then selecting recirculation the fan stayed running, aircon on or off still running but if you turn the fan off the recirculation switches off!

I've checked it again, when driving if recirculation is on/off I can still fill the airflow.

When switching to AC it won't allow recirculation (on) but if I disable the AC turn on recirculation and then switch back the AC it will keep recirculation on, or if I use the Auto mode I can toggle the recirculation on or off as I wish.

Whats bother me is the fact the I feel the airflow when the recirculation is switched on and the fan or AC are off.

sometimes it gets a bit cold and the with the airflow it feels like the windows are open.

I still didn't find any guide for checking the function of the recirculation switch.

Hi,

An update... I've switched the I.C.E to an Android based (S160) and now when I disable / enable circulation it actually works.

But I have anther issue with the AC, the passenger side is warmer than the driver side (LHD) but when disabling recirculation (airflow from the outside) the passenger side is much better but still a bit warmer..
Please help me understand whats happening...

Hi,

Update, I've visited a local aircon garage that confirmed that the evaporator cooling coil - internal unit - is leaking which means that he needs to remove the dashboard in order to replace the leaking unit.

I've checked the dashboard removal guide in the docs section but it's not full...

Any points to consider when removing the dashboard? Any guides?

Doesn't look easy and requires removal of the passenger side airbag.
