Sorry for the english.

You can download last firmware - click here

INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK

It takes about ~20 minutes, you can drive the car, but radio and other functions dont work.
dont stop the engine

1) Download and unzip
2) Copy SMEG_PLUS_UPG folder to FAT32 formated USB flash drive. (Recommended to use 4GB+ fast USB 3 flash drive)
3) Start the engine, and wait system to load.
4) Disable eco mode, by clicking on car icon and then ECO OFF.
5) Make sure ECO mode is disabled, you can see on main screen ECO OFF icon is appeared.
6) You can check what version of firmware you are by holding setup button for 5 seconds.
7) insert USB flash drive to usb port and wait to loaded it.
8) Pop-up window will appear, wait few minutes to load the usb flash drive.
9) After that new pop-up window will appear asking you to update software, click yes.
10) In a few minutes, system will reboot and you will see blue screen.
11) You can get few errors with parking assistence, but its normal.
12) System will reboot few times.
13) After update, system will reboot to normal mode, and usb flash drive will load again with pop-up window asking you to update software, this time you click No, and then remove usb flash drive.
14) Now you can check if you have latest firmware version by holding setup button for 5 seconds, if you are on SMEG5.41.B.R4 is all good.

Now system is working more faster than before, and i tested internet browser via iphone internet, all good.

Thanks, very clear posts.

Is there any advantage of 5.41? My main grumbles are traffic, on the radio it doesn't pull in BBC local alerts, just the odd commercial station, and on the satnav the 'around vehicle' option thinks Bristol and London are within 12 miles of Cambridge so push out sqintillions of alerts so I leave it off. Might do the upgrade if it cures either issue or gives me anything new and exciting.

I have had fun trying to decide when the alert functions for the traffic info is on or off. Finally, after about 5 weeks I found that the white bar at the top of the box for "On Route", "Around vehicle" is what causes it to be ON. This is the opposite to the other things, like Eco Stop/Start where the orange bar across the top is it switched OFF. Having done this I now only get relevant local messages. This does mean that you will often get the message in the list box that there are no messages to view, but it did stop messages about incidents 93 miles away from appearing.
As for TA messages from BBC Local Radio, that is a completely different things and does not appear on the list of road problems in the alert menu.
I did not find that upgrading to 5.41 and then 5.42 made any difference to the traffic messages.

Thanks - I will play with the local alerts thing again. Maybe doing the opposite of what appears to make sense actually makes sense.

I know the radio alerts are a completely different thing, but if I could get either to work properly it would be good. As far as I can gather the SMEG+ radio doesn't support the right sort of EON protocol to listen out for BBC alerts in background* but wondered if a firmware upgrade might have changed things.

Having said that, I will try appearing to turn it off in case in so doing I really am turning it on. But I'm sure it is on because I get random Heart FM interjects in some parts of the country.

* that every car I have owned for the last 25 years does, even the basest of base model radios in my C1.

Can you tell me if the upgrade is worth doing, what differences are there, are there more sound effects, new screen layouts etc? Thanks

Have you noticed any difference?

I've updated mine from 5.0.D.R2 to 5.4.B.R6 but have not gone any further as I'm not sure if there are any significant changes. I've got the downloads just not applied them.

I cant really say as I only had the C4 Picasso for a week before i updated, and its difficult to determine any reliable resources for the changelogs of what were implemented.

For me I just went ahead and did it anyway on the basis that the updates must have done for a reason and I hadn't read about any disadvantages maybe other than something about volume muting after a phone call or similar but that didn't overly concern me .

Ive not noticed any issues and if anything the screens maybe are a tad quicker, but for me it was quick enough anyway.

I also updated the maps and camera warnings to the latest but the maps are not that up to date....

Hello,

Just a question before I try to update my C4 Grand Picasso ... do I insert the USB in which USB port? Left or right? Thanks.

I don't think it matters but I did mine in the left USB port as you look at it.

Other advice is to ensure eco is off, engine running and that no other devices are plugged in and that the bluetooth is not connected.
