I was in Staples yesterday getting some printer ink cartridges, and spotted these. Thought I'd give them a go as they looked the same size as the Citroen air freshener. Pack of 4 was £2.99, so a cheap alternative. The 'pong' is cucumber and melon which is a nice fresh clean smell. Will post on how effective they are or how long they last. Clive |

Much better value than the OE cartridges but the white cap does look out of place. My issues with the original replacements were both cost and the longevity of the smell, be interesting so see if these last any longer. I myself am now a disciple of Californian scents from Ebay, last ages and the can fits nicely in the useless cup holder. |

I think I've seen them on there but never given them a go. How do they work? (if that isn't a dumb question) What do they look like when you get them out the packaging? |

- Click Here - They are a small tin can you peel the lid off. Plastic vented covers are available but I don't bother as the contents are felt and don't spill. These have quite a following on the site I understand. |

The green smelly bit looks like it can be pulled off, and I guess dropped in the Citroen holder. The top of the smelly is mainly green, but the flash makes it look mega bright white. Had them in the crabby Ford Fiesta courtesy car last week, and the smell was great not too over powering. I put it in the C4 today, and I've a stinking man-flu blocked nose so can't smell owt. The California Tin cans are good, but the orange one is so chemically it gave me a head ache. The linen one that went the wife C3 is very nice. Regards Clive |

You can pull them smelly strips off. They don't last that long they dry out really quick.

I remove the jelly part from the CarPlan stick, fold it in two and then push it into the dummy cartridge supplied with a C4GP.

I wonder if injecting potpourri oil into the foam core of the original would work? (Using syringe that yo get with inkjet refill kits). Maybe inject slowly while withdrawing needle from deep inside the core to load it with fragrance?

You need to take care every bit of residual fluid has drained before reinserting. With ambipure my fascia was ruined with chemical burns that required replacement. As to whether potpourri would have the same chemical effect I am unsure.

My solution to the cheap alternative to air freshener is to take the horrible thing out and chuck it in the bin! There we go doesn't smell at all. Isn't that better?

I bought Bubble-gum Fragrance Air Freshener which come in a fine spray bottle which you can spray as a normal air freshener but I dipped the Citroen cartridge in to the bottle wiped off the surplus and up to now still working after more than a week. The scent is often used in the motor trade |
