Are these related? haven't had chance to change brake bulb yet, just confused as to why service light would come and stay on? it not due a service for another 14-15k miles.

Thanks

Service interval is mileage and time based, so if it is 12 months since the car was purchased or serviced the light will come on regardless of mileage

Car was purchased less than 30 days ago from Dealership which had 'serviced it' the service reading on the dash was at 16k miles and now has gone down to around 15300k so im guessing it was reset when serviced by them. Just confused as to why it came on the same time the 'Check LH Brake light' message appeared.

Booked it back into dealership, with regards the service light, not fussed about brake light bulb as thats not under warranty, the dealership did say thta if the fault is not covered under warranty their is a £50 charge for the 1st 30mins ??? Surely they have a returns policy as in sales of goods act 'not suitable for purpose' or something i aint paying £50 for something ive not had for a month yet. I picked the car up on 17th November?

Any advice Please

So does this mean it was not serviced or reset properly? the car was initially entered into service on the 23rd December 2015 so it's coming up for one year old.

The service light comes on when the car detects a fault that needs your attention,
The brake light message ties the two together. Were the brake light bulbs working?

Yes, brake lights were working, the warnings both came on at the same time.

I think I would have replaced the left hand bulb and cleaned the connections just to rule it out, it could be drawing a lot of current

No. your car's service interval is 12 months OR a specified mileage whichever comes first, and as your car is only a couple weeks away from 12 months old that may be why the service light is on

The service light comes on when a light bulb is burned. Also when the engine oil level is low.
