Hi, I have sadly become a owner of a C4GP! The car has developed a number of faults: 1. Particular filter fault now in limp mode 2. Leaking rear caliper 3. Left wiper not working 4. Judder when setting off 5. Stutter/Judder when driving (not engine related)... So, a good start to my new dad car.. Too many problems, and I need to resolve them myself. I hope the community can give me some help on resolving this DIY style. And if you lucky i might get few videos of the work once done. My main concern is the driving - judder on start and when driving. It feels like the clutch is jumping rather then slipping. My thoughts are it's the clutch which needs replacing. But before, I take the engine apart I wonder if I might be wrong. Anyone has similar experience? The gears change fine, sometimes very smooth other times, a little rough. When driving you can see the revs going up, and down and the car feels like it's being held back then released. When you rev the engine on it's own I can't feel anything wrong, just when driving. Could be the gearbox, the EGS actuator is not holding the clutch under pressure. I look forward to your help.. |

Just done a little test: Keeping the break pressed, and accelerating the car pulls, then drops, then pulls and back down again. It feels like the clutch bites then drops off. ? |

I suspect you need to get the particle filter sorted so that you aren't in limp home mode first, perhaps it needs EOLYS fluid (80k typically). As for your clutch the cheapest first option is to do an Italian tune-up; pull away at full-bore then change up to second at the red-line, this resets the clutch biting point, calibrating it properly. It doesn't always work but is worth a try. |

Hi, thanks for the reply.. I have decided to tackle the the repairs myself over the next week or so.. I have a failed clutch on a 307 HDI - I was going to scrap it but now decided to try and learn the art of clutch repair on it. If it fails then it was going to be skipped anyway. If it works, then I will tackle the C4 as well.. Regarding the liquid - do you have to put in the full 2.5 litres or is it ok to try top it up with 1 litre to test? |

There are a few docs in the technical document archive on clutch parts, actuator drain & refill etc but they are restricted to premier members. Well worth the price to access them though! |

The additive is metered into the fuel when you fill up, and you can add a dose manually to the tank in the same way as we used to add Redex. If I remember rightly the service record said a 1ltr topup at 50k miles, so 10cc should be enough for a tankful of fuel. |

You really need a laptop and Lexia to sort the clutch and EGS gearbox setup. If you get sorted with these let me know and I can guide you. Just done mine again after 20,000 miles and it's quick and responsive again. | ||

Just done mine again after 20,000 miles and it's quick and responsive again. My 1.6 2011 used as a taxi has 160k, just started to get this judder but tends to be on cold damp mornings, when run for a while it settles down. The only other issue is in stop start traffic when it seems to struggle between N and 1. On my previous model, an 07, we had a failed gearbox, replaced and sync'd ( so know his software worked on an 07 ) so after trying the "italian" asked my fella to sync this one for me, he gets the reading "not supported". Is it his software or should I try another garage? |
