Citroen C4 GRAND PICASSO 1.6 e-HDi (115BHP)- 2015 **HUGE CAR**

Awesome day. Now normally I wouldn't post on such matters.... as I know all driving styles, situations, roads, weather conditions, fuel quality blah blah blah change between countries.

However this was too good too keep to myself and I felt a tugging inside my chest to share it with the forum....

I changed my Air Filter in the above car to a K&N Air Filter Part Number 33-2975 (( I had a C4GP Old Shape for 6 Years and Used a K&N Filter for 5 Years without 1 Problem )). So I thought I would see if I could do the same to my New version and find the sweet spot in acceleration that was missing slightly.

Not Only did ''The Dead Spot disappear'' I Noticed a Huge difference in MPG...and I mean Huge. Same driver, Same car, same roads...And almost 5mpg difference. (( Photos Below))

Now, not only was this a huge surprise, but even bigger and please believe me on this....the Added MPG was during TOWN/CITY Driving...NO Motorway driving at ALL. (( We have taken some time off travelling and so have been driving only in town for the second Photo 1191 Miles Covered (( I RESET THIS PHOTO TRIP SIMPLY TO TEST AND SHOW THE DIFFERENCE - IT SURPRISED ME A LOT ))and an average speed of 21 MPH and *** 61.3 mpg (( as you can see that's City Driving ))

My First C4GP with a K&N filter added possibly 2mpg difference!!. So For anyone interested and feel so inclined, then I dont think you will be dissapointed.

Before you ask, NO I do not work for them, and No I will not send you to the site i bought mine from... Ready available in google search...

Enjoy and keep up the awesome work Admins.

How do you get the Trip info on the bottom screen? I've not seen this on my 2014 C4GP Exclusive+

I Believe that on the Exclusive Plus you have it on the TOP screen so no requirement.

REGARDING THE ABOVE TOPIC MPG ......

a. I Have my Car Serviced every 10,000 Miles as I did with my last C4GP, (( MY Personal Preference with a Diesel engine))

b. I Use the Best Quality Diesel Fuel I can Purchase.

c. I Don't Have a Right Foot made of Lead and Only change gear when the Vehicle Computer tells me too. (( Or The Wife Tells me too ))

Cheers

Interesting. I find it very hard to judge. My best figures seem to be weather related - the warmer the weather, the lower the fuel consumption figure - and of course long journeys at a steady speed with minimal stops gives good figures

I found Total Excellium (from my local filling station) made no difference.

My best figures over the years have been from using Tesco regular, LeClerc's own brand in France and Repsol in Spain.

Draw your own conclusions.

Most of the time I use regular diesel from Morrisons. Agree with John, regarding the weather. The warmer the weather the better the consumption. The car is now doing, as of yesterday coming home from work, 61.3mpg.

Likewise, currently at 64.1mpg (4.4 litres/100km) after >200 miles on Tesco cooking.

The long term average over some 65,000 miles is 56.4mpg (5.0 litres/100km). Can't be bad as I used to think anything over 30mpg from my 1974 Mini 1000 was fantastic!

That is mighty impressive. I have the 2 litre blue hdi auto and it won't get above 40 on local mileage...... I'm going to try the K&N. Hadn't considered it on the family run about but think i'll give it a try!

I take it you are both manual getting 61 & 64 mpg respectively?

Ok That makes a little more sense now, I thought you were talking about a Grand Picasso and thinking OMG that's an awesome figure for such a huge Car. Now on a 1.6Hdi 92 I can get that around my little head !!! LOL.

Mine is the e-HDi 1.6 Diesel 115 HP and Manual 6 Speed. And It Pulls like a TRAIN......

I am the same as John again with an older 1.6HDi C4. I also use the limiter quite a lot. I might try and get a K & N filter myself now.

Thanks as above that makes more sense now but still awesome stats. I have never considered the limiter and just how it would help so I may try that and see how it goes. I have an option for different speeds to limit. is that how it works. ??
Thanks

Just remember, there will be a difference between indicated MPG and true MPG. The only real way to calculate is by brimming it tank-to-tank, then working out how much fuel you used and how far you got with it. A really good website to monitor it is fuelly.

Yep I Fully concur with BIOHead the computer may be out so personally I Use the Citroen Android app a lot of the time to monitor trips and to reinforce the Vehicle Stats, and its within 1 to 2% actual stats so still Impressive.

The idea of increased airflow and mpg sounded tempting, so I went ahead and ordered one of the K&N filters for my 2015 C4P 1.6eHDi (from a well known on-line book retailer). However, since ordering it I have been doing some reading and am now unsure as to whether any of the negative reports about the filters (oil on sensors etc, passing of large numbers of particles) would affect my Citroen warranty if it were fitted. So, I might be sending it back.....
