I own a C4 Loeb 120VTi and have a problem with cold start. When I start the car it has a slight backfire followed by kangarooing down the road for around a minute, then the car seems to drive ok. It had the error P0014 which pointed to the cam sensor so had that changed. It still did it, so had the spark plugs changed. It still does it.

The computer shows no errors and I am at a loss as to what might be causing it. The garage said it will be a case of fault finding but I know how costly this can be. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could possibly be causing it? I do have a complete stainless steel exhaust, is there a possibility that this could be the problem?

Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel filter? Likely to be the cheapest place to start.

Would a faulty fuel filter not show up on computer? The car is showing no errors which is the strangest thing.

I don't think that there is a replaceable fuel filter on a petrol car.

Dirty fuel is a possible cause.

could be carbon build up in the cylinder or on the injectors. try a bottle of redex or run some Vpower. see if this helps.

Another more simple solution would be to simply let you car warm up before setting off.
