Just the H7 at the moment going to see what they are like first

I love them, also gives the car an even more premium look. Plus now the LED DRLS and the lights match!

Well I've had no issues with the LED headlight since that day. So keeping an eye on it.

Few more new purchases for the car. I've recently bought a in car camera which I thought I could charge off the USB port in the cubby whole. But it doesn't like that. So I'm going to have get a new Cigrette lighter one.

Found this gem on Amazon... - Click Here - Can charge 4 items at a decent ampage. So my S5, wife's S5, my work phone and the car camera Will see if it interferes with the DAB and report back after a week or so.

Had a test of my car camera and its brilliant.

Will do another post on that later when I wire it all in.

Best to ask before going ahead??

I contacted our insurance provider(QuoteMeHappy) and their responce is that cover will not be provided if these LED headlight bulbs are installed as they are not like for like replacement. I pointed out the CE status and E marking but not interested.

Worth asking before going ahead!!

I've installed my car cam now, and without faffing too much it was easy to hide most the cable. Got a bit more showing than I like but thats because I didn't want to take the A pillar covers off.

Also the new 4 USB car charger works brilliantly, however is an extremely tight fit to get in. You do have to force it, but hopefully once its in..I shouldn't have to get in there too often!

Will do a new thread for the car camera at some point and link it back here.

I have had the LED headlights bulbs installed since September, however I have now removed them principally because of invalidating insurance cover. I do agree that appearence is enhanced by the LED bulbs but in my experience the beam pattern is totally inadequate for driving with noticeable lack of illumination to the nearside and absence of distinct kick up which is present with halogen bulbs.

I cannot find clear definition whether these bulbs are road legal or not, but I suspect the latter.

Thanks Metroman, were they the same LED's as the one linked in this thread.

As the beam pattern seemed very similar to the halogen ones. I can't be more definitive as I changed them almost immediately after getting the car. However on the road they do look brighter than the halogen ones.

Cheers

VIMTO2000, they are exactly the same as I have.Initially the bulbs do seem brighter but when in use I noticed that the beam pattern was quite different so I checked by aiming the headlights on my garage door and as I described before the LEDs did not resemble the OEM halogens.

There is actually very good reason for this, the LED source emits the light differently to a halogen bulb so the reflector cannot produce the same pattern from them also the colour temperature of the light is measured at 6000K which is really higher than the ideal 4500K so actual usable light is reduced. This article is discussing HID conversion, but is relevent to the topic.

With regard to legality, although these bulbs claim CE compliance and are E marked I doubt that either of these designations are valid . The bulb I have does not have any E marking on the bulb body which would normally be found see here:

So whilst insurance may not decline cover based on legality the reason I was given is that fitting of these counts as modification and hence non approved deviation from the manufacturer original specification, which also means that the manufacturers warranty is invalidated (I checked this too).

In summary all of the above convinced me that I should remove the LED's.

Hope this is useful

Just an update about the car! Just clocked up 2K Miles and so far everything still works as it should do in the car! Everyone who sits in the car comments on how good it is, which as a bonus! Even those that mocked me for getting a French car!

Unfortunately, I found myself in a situation where I needed to use the tyre weld. However, this failed miserably as I hit a pothole. It tore a hole in my sidewall and tore a strip near the alloy. I couldn't see the damage as it was dark...only when trying to fill the tyre up did the holes become evident!

Luckily for me, mine is a company car and I have full recovery cover etc. Which I would definitely recommend after my experience.

So if anyone is curious, a replacement tyre weld bottle is £32.50! Which I got from the garage.

While I was there I decided to get some air freshener refills.... thinking they would be around a fiver each considering they only last 3-4 months! Nope! £12 each!!

Also...when filling the car up, its happened on a couple of occasions. I let the fuel fill up to the click, the pump stops...then diesel is spit back out. Has anyone else had this problem??

Cheers

When filling either of my two previous Picassos and my C3, when the pump first clicks it is possible (although not recommended to get 4-5 litres more into the tank. With the new one, after the first cut-off I can only get about half a litre in before it overflows.

I can believe that, however this overflowed after the first click. It's like it had trapped air and sprayed it all back. Luckily I wasn't standing right next to the car else I would have been covered in Diesel!

More evidence for the argument of carrying a spare wheel.

Would definitely agree with that! I would have paid for it, if it were possible. However I don't really want a wheel loose in my boot.

This FAQ shows how to fit a spare wheel carrier to most Picassos, though you need to check it applies to your model.
