Well after 74k my trusty white C4 Grand Picasso has now been retired. It has been replaced with a Lazuli Blue Grand Space Tourer. More updates will come as the more I drive it and get to know the new car! |

Looks shiny Of passing interest for other relatively high-milers here, in your 3 years/74k miles with the white one did you suffer any significant mechanical failures, breakdowns etc. apart from normal wear items like tyres? This forum, like many others, gets questions from people with problems so cars appear to be less reliable than they are. Stories around "bought it, drove it 3 years/70k miles, nothing broke" don't get told. |

I assume that the new one has the black python alloys rather than grey! Makes it a little more difficult to buy a replacement wheel. (I got a new unmarked one to replace my slightly kerbed one for £80) | ||||

Hey all, First of all my last car was great!! Hence why I've ordered the replacement. The issues I've had with the white C4 are: Wing mirror not flipping up after being in reverse...this was fixed Creaky suspension - didn't bother me and no fix was available when I took it in Passenger door handle stopped working - £380 for parts but this was out of warranty period so never got fixed Drivers wing mirror occasionally stopped rotating back in...assume this needed a clean or regrease. Never diagnosed. Rear CV boot was an advisory in final MOT but considering the mileage of the car...normal wear and tear. Now I must admit...I drove this car hard however, it has mainly had only me in it as it is used primarily for work! So not had to lug a huge load in the car. So as cars go, this is one of the most reliable company cars I've had since a Skoda Octavia in 2005! (That car never went back to garage apart from the service and MOT). The wheels are black rather than the grey before! But i'm sure you can paint them quite easily. All 4 of my alloys were kerbed at the end. We had a quote to get them replaced as the garages assigned to my company refused to refurb them (diamond cut). That came out as £1380 for all 4 alloys...so my company decided to take the hit on any cost that came from lease company when it went back. So £80 for a rim is a bargain!! Re the differences! The biggest change is ICE and interface! Still getting to grips with where everything is now, but you can't change the layout like the old one but you can change the colours. The left hand side of the panel is configurable...but pointless for me...I just stick to the dials. Which gives me the Rev counter and trip info. If you use the Citroen Sat nav..you will be pleased to know, you can have the radio on the bottom and satnav on the top!! Yay!! Unless you use android Auto...then you can only use the bottom one, as the top one only shows the Citroen Sat Nav!! Boo. The steering wheel doesn't have the handy mute button now...but has the voice command button. I've not explored this yet...but I've never been a fan..not sure if its the way I talk or the system is [%*^#@!]...but it is frustating as hell!! The steering has lost the buttons on the bottom (I don't have active CC) so the park assist is now near the steering wheel. The chunky handle to move the seats fwd and back is replaced with a bar like most cars. You know have an SOS button and a Citroen button on the top near the sunroof button. My old C4 didn't beep when you open and closed the tailgate...this one beeps when closing! The steering feels lighter than the old car and a little more wallowy, but that could be perception. Also I just need to confirm this but the seat belt feels light and I don't get the comforting tug of the seat belt when setting off. Will double check this today. Not sure if this has the active seat belts now or is this part of an option pack. *just tested this and the seat belt doesn't tug! The sensors now warn you when you are getting too close to the car infront at speed. The reversing camera esp at night seems inferior to the previous one...still adequate though. And finally the start stop button...before a quick prod would fire up the car and shut the car off if the key was in range. Now, its a long hold that does the same thing! Still getting used to that! Not drove this car in anger yet...but damn, the new 8 speed gearbox is super smooth!!! Not sure how this would cope with some spirited driving! The old 6 speed EAT6 wasn't bad...but this new EAT8 is soo much better! Can't really feel the 10 extra BHP yet, but will wait till the car has done a couple of 1000 miles before I push it. I have tried using Android Auto rather than revert back to my old way of using the phone on the dash....I'm still not 100% happy with it, but it seems a bit more stabler. Not sure if that is an upgrade to my phone or newer firmware on the car. But time will tell if I stick to it! Sorry if this seems incoherant but just dumping my thoughts down! Will double check later to see if it all makes sense! All in all, a nice minor upgrade from the old car...still don't think its worth the extra 6k list than my last one. Will see what happens in another 3 years...but I have been tempted with the new S-Max esp as Citroen has increased the prices to match. |

Just a few more things I've noticed. The adblue can be filled in the same area as fuel. It has an extra fill hole!! Fantastic idea!! My old car had a memory function on the wheel, so you could pre program set speed limits with the speed limit and cruise control. New car has same mem button, however since the car knows the speed limit of the roads, it sets the limit to the actual road speed! Very clever! Also previously in my exclusive plus.. I had a perfume plug in below my top screen... This is no longer available. On the top dash, the coolant and engine temp is no longer shown. You have to set it as a personal display to get that information! The kick boot opening, is nice feature. But takes a while to open... So you are never sure if you did it right. An instant beep to register you did it would be helpful. Also front passenger seat doesn't have the foot rest any more!! So two big features missing, the active seat belts and foot rest! To be fair we never really used the foot rest in the old car.. But the odd occasion.. It was a good perk! |

Looks like you have perfect alloys. I have the same Eloe/python style rims and one of them was kerbed by myself when I wasn't used to the width of it at the beginning. Always thought about getting it refurbed but diamond cut refurb isn't cheap! Your photos now makes me want to do really to it vimto2000 wrote ... After a long wait since the initial order..May. The car has finally arrived! It took about 6 months due to a mess up at the dealership! Either way its here! And so far I'm loving it! It comes with 10miles on the clock!! Mine came with the Amber interior, and so far all my colleagues who have seen it said that it looks really good! It came with software SMEG 5.2.C.R1 which was dated 08.01.15. Also the MyLink Citroen App for Android worked perfectly fine..no need to connect, it automatically logs data. Enough talking...here are the pics! Anyway here are a few pics! |

The steering wheel doesn't have the handy mute button now... On our C3, if you press the vol+ and vol- simultaneously it acts as mute. Press either vol + or vol - to un-mute. Might be the same on the Pic (just like our 1998 Synergie, maybe its a longstanding undocumented feature) |

Unfortunately that is not the case here! The volume is on a rocker so it's - or +...never both! So the new feature I really like is the kick pedal to open the boot..... But the best part.... Do it when the boot is open and it will close the boot and lock the car!!! Amazing!!! Lol |

Right just some news on my car! So the good news! The car has been running brilliantly up till now. No real issues. I have managed to clock up 16000 miles since November. Android Auto worked flawlessly in the car and I got to say is a must have now! The volume button on the steering wheel, when held down on volume down mutes the car. All in all very reliable. That being said...I have managed to right the car off last week. I have just had confirmation from the insurance company this is the case. So now I have to order a replacement vehicle. Looking at the competition, I find it hard to re-order the C4 Spacetourer. The Peugeot 5008 seems to be a nice upgrade to the C4 while still keeping all the cool functionality of the Space Tourer. I did contemplate the S-Max, however it might be the nicer car to drive, with the amount of miles I do, I want some creature comforts for me and my family. I'll update you guys on what route I go down as nothing is set in stone yet. |

That’s a real shame, having kept up to date over the years with your various C4 purchases. I’m on my second Peugeot 3008 GT, which has an excellent array of tech indeed and having come from a 2014 C4GP into now a 3008 180 bhp diesel EAT8, it’s been a great move. Focal audio system, full leather, opening panoramic glass roof etc. If you like the Citroen, you’ll be more than at home with a switch to Peugeot. Parts are shared and the fit and finish is very good. Fantastic safety features standard fit on the Peugeot are another plus point. The inside of the 5008 is a lovely place to be and the interior 'I cockpit' works well. The only thing I personally didn’t like about the 5008 is the strange look side on, with its stretched appearance. The sixth and seventh seat raising/lowering arrangements are the same as the C4 Spacetourer. Diesel versions of the 5008 ‘should’ be available with significant discounts. Discounts for me were huge on a new car, hence now being on my second Peugeot. Diesels from all marques, despite being clean and modern are generally not selling at all well, along with dealer sales being generally down. Time it right if you can. List prices for the Peugeot 5008 and 3008 appear extremely high and often deter purchase, but my experience with certain dealers has been extremely advantageous Do keep us posted and any questions about the Peugeot, please ask away. |

Thanks Bluehdi. The thing is, as a family we all love the C4. Even the kids, they are currently enjoying the C Class Merc I have as a hire car, and in the past when I've had Jags and BMW's (from work for short periods), the kids love the look of them but they really miss their luxuries in the C4. It truly is a family car! When I was comparing the two, Spacetourer and the 5008, the 5008 had slightly more tech. I would love to get the 5008 GT with the 180bhp EAT8 however, I'm not sure I'll be able to justify the extra cost. At the moment, the model that is catching my eye is the GT Line Premium with the 1.5 130bhp EAT8. The GT has the ACC, Focal audio system, 360 park and the full leathers with extra driver seat function which are really nice. Also, the GT only comes as a 180bhp, not the 130bhp option. Just got to see if I can make the figures work. Also with the fact that the mpg is significantly better! It just depends if the 1.5 can cope with 7 adults with small amounts of luggage. I end up being the designated driver on lads weekends away! With the look of the 5008, I kinda like it over the C4. The SUV with 19" alloys compared to the MPV look. Also, I've had to double-take when I've seen the 5008 on the road as it looks very similar to the 3008 just bigger. I really need to go to a garage and sit in one to get a proper feel, however just look at the specs and the brochures the S-Max is ruled out. So it is really which model and which engine to choose, and which colour. I just wish the were some more exciting colours to choose from than the monochrome ones available. The only option is the Emerald, which looks fantastic in some pictures and looks really dark in some. So need to see one in the flesh. |

The C4 Spacetourer (nee Picasso) 5 seat is discontinued and I suspect the Grand will be soon. The C5 Aircross is a sort-of replacement and I think there are plans for a 7 seat C5 Aircross. That means if you buy a C4 Grand Spacetourer you are buying end of line product, unlikely to have seen any development apart from badge and Euro 6.2 compliance for months or years. The C5s look frighteningly expensive with decent spec. You might get good deals or special editions end of line C4s soon but the trade in values will suffer. The Peugeot range in current shape is likely to keep going longer and might be a better buy. As for Ford: (based on a January press release) As the compact MPV segment in Europe shrinks, Ford is considering axing its C-Max and Grand C-Max MPVs and is currently holding formal discussions with its Works Council. Nothing is said about the Mondeo and S-Max, which are also among the vehicles that are rumored to be facing the chopping block. |

Hope everybody is going Kay, so long as it’s just the metal then it can be replaced I know what you mean about the 5008 looking a bit awkward, it’s the super-sharp front end that the rear is at slight odds with; not sure on 3rd row space though, it appears to be much more constricted than the C4 Grand. One benefit to a C4 Grand Spacetourer is the tech is proven and tried and tested by now and the discounts are healthy. |

Hey Bluehdi, I've signed up to the peugeot forums, which I see you're a member of. They are very quiet over there! What sort of MPG are you experiencing on your 180bhp GT? Also Have you sat in a GT Line Premium? At the moment I am going for the GT Line Premium 1.5 Auto with the ACC as an added option. I'm still waiting for the pricing for the 2.0 but it seems unlikely it will get authorised as this is a company car and the choice is very restrictive. |
