They say that if you wait long enough everything comes back into fashion. That's certainly what's happened with 0800 freephone numbers as, since 1st July, 0800 calls are now FREE on all mobiles as well as landlines. We'll continue to advertise the Chris Knott geographic number (01424 200477) alongside our freephone number for a little while yet but you can start using our 0800 917 2274 number from your mobiles with immediate effect. Yes I nearly went elsewhere last year. After a phone call to CK I was offered a different insurer and that matched another quote I had received. It is not always clear cut and it's a shame CK don't quote the cheaper insurer first saving phone calls. | ||||

Hi, this question does keep coming up and it's a fair question. The answer is simply that we often have the insurers' authority to quote what we need to in order to retain car club member business. The problem If you've not had any other quotes we'll offer you the best available at the time. Sometimes the market is adrift from this as not every provider is on the screen or available to brokers and so you might find a cheaper quote elsewhere. The solution By talking to you we get a better feel for you than just via fixed data. So if you have an alternative quote that's better it doesn't matter what our screen rate is or what special rate we have offered you - we need to respond to your best quote to retain the business (assuming that it's a case we think the insurers will still want to accept based on the risk). That's why we responded to your best quote and rated accordingly. It works in your favour to get you the best deal. It also works for the insurers on the panel as they get to keep safer car club members on their books. As brokers we don't have access to the full market so we sometimes need you to tell us about the rates out there that we don't know about. Our expertise is in using this to get you the best deal. Caveats It works for many people but for some it doesn't as we're not prepared to compete with every single quote due to the risk. Every case has a quote floor that we won't go below as we need to keep the whole account in profit for the insurers or we lose the facility altogether. I hope this answers the question sufficiently? We're not so much giving you OUR quote as working the system to get you a better deal. |

Hi, The BBC News website reports: "Drivers saw their car insurance premiums rise by an average of £110 in the last year, a comparison site says. More expensive repairs and recent government changes to injury payouts pushed up annual insurance costs by 16%, according to Confused.com. It found drivers paid on average £781 on comparison sites for a comprehensive policy in the year to March 2017. Average premiums are set to rise to a record high and could pass £1,000 next year, it added. Newer vehicles have seen some of the biggest rises, because their increasingly complex electronics have made repairs more expensive... ...The Confused [dot] com research...checks more than four million car insurance quotes." I just wanted to let you now that the Chris Knott average premium through the club insurance scheme is much lower than that reported on the comparison sites.
