Hi all, am new to the site. I am in the process of purchasing a C4 Grand Picasso on a 09 plate it is the 2.0HDi Exclusive. It has paddle gear change and has been well looked after full service history low mileage. Are there any downfalls I should look out for? I have a printout on the car. It is the 138 bhp but how can I tell if it's EGS or not?

If it has got paddle shift then it is an EGS gearbox, It is a semi auto box not a full auto. If there are ANY noises from the gear box then beware as they are very expensive to repair |

Check the rear suspension. It is likely to be pneumatic as it's an Exclusive, which is prone to leaking and failure.

The full automatic also has paddle shifts. The difference will the gear change; it will also have P (park) if a full auto.

Just a quick add on to my post. In the printout I have it states Engine: diesel turbo DW10BTED4 FAP. Transmission: 6 speed controlled manual gearbox mcd manual As I said, the car is an 09 with 28,000 waranted miles. It's the 138 bhp and I am looking forward to picking it up. It is being serviced on Friday and being checked out and it does come with a 3 month warranty but I have the option to extend it. The reason I am mainly going for a paddle shift car is my son has one (a smart car) plus need new knee so should be a lot easier. |

It sounds like the EGS. Mine has a 4 position lever at the top of the steering wheel. Marked R. N. A. M. When in A, the gear change can be a bit violent (mine suddenly slows before the change) but the M Manual is a lot better. There is a post somewhere on the forums about using the EGS. I would read that before picking it up as it has some useful tips. |
