OK I have a USB stick with MP3 tracks on it but it's listing them in alphabetical order so how do I set it to play the 150 or so tracks randomly? I can't find a setting for this (or I'm not looking hard enough )

The B7 C4 will have an RD5 head unit. Try this: Switch on the ignition, insert the USB stick and select correct source so it is playing a track - any track will do. Press MENU. Select the very left hand icon - Multimedia. Select Media Parameters, then Playback Mode, and you will presented with a selection of playback modes: Normal; Random; Random All; and Repeat. IIRC your choice will not become the default and you will need do the above procedure next time you use the stick. You can also find Track Listing here: By Folders; By Artist; By Genre; and By Playlist.
