Hi,

I have a 2008 C4GP VTR+ - happy enough with it but yesterday I got in to adjust the height from my wife's 5'6 setting to my 6'4 setting and the handle went loose as if something had snapped.

I did a bit of reading and discovered it could be a couple of torx bolts come out so I set about trying to remove the plastic trim. I failed, and I couldn't find any resource that instructed or gave any clue how the side trim comes off.

I managed to lever the trim away a little bit and could see a single large Torx Bolt with a non-slip washer on it which was over time slipping around and undoing with the handle mechanism - this needed tightening.

As I felt I was going to damage the plastics more and more by prising them off or getting a Clarkson hammer on it I came up with another plan.

I put the passenger seat all the way forward, and the drivers one to the rear - this gave me another space to get my electric drill in lined up.

With a 6mm drill I made a small hole in line with this bolt, just behind the seatbelt connector and was able to put the largest Torx (I think it's a T30) from my multitool and push it onto the bolt - I was then able to tighten it and the seat now goes up and down - the hole is almost invisible once the seats are back in their usual places. Images below are before I rubbed the bits off the hole with a bit of sandpaper and I've got a blob of black sticky stuff I could squeeze in there.

Nice simple solution. Rather than a 'blob' of black sticky stuff use a rubber blanking grommet, or the plack cap off a number plate screw cover and it will look like it was always supposed to be there

The plastic trim comes off easy enough, you just need to pull the reclining lever off first.
