Just took delivery of a 2015 GP "exclusive". Noticed that there isn't any "safety camera" (Speed trap) or school zone info in there. Does anyone know if such exists for Oz?? Found European ones but that isn't going to help me much

Thnx

Dennis

Well supposedly the maps are available for 196 Countries (though I couldn't find a list of those)

Plus they do say on one page that 'Safety Zones' are included in Map Updates but on checking there doesn't seem to be any updates available for a 2015 New C4GP

Have a look at - Click Here - and try and contact them and see what happens.

Well that didn't work at all - nope, don't have safety zones or maps for a 2015 GP - not even for Europe.

Did anyone figure out what format this system uses for its safety zones? Once we know that we can possibly convert a Garmin or TomTom file to the target format and get it going. Not having high hopes for map updates here in Australia....

Thanks.

FWIW, the maps are supplied by HERE from Nokia who supply maps for many platforms and organisations except notably Apple. I don't know much else about the latest systems in C4s.

With regards to your first question, the Citroen Navigation website doesn't list the 2015 model year (just select and choose the 2014 model instead) and is often not showing current models for some reason - its been like that for a long while, although newer 2015-1 European maps and risk area updates are definitely available to buy from the site. As you have just taken delivery of your car your maps will be as up to date as they can be.

This website as you say is for European updates and doesn't list any maps for your part of the world. The risk areas updates which I bought for the UK/Europe for £6.99 and have loaded on my C4GP, only applies to Europe and unfortunately I have seen no mentions anywhere on the Internet to offer the function for Australia.

Unlike the earlier Citroen RT3/4/5/6 navigation units, there are no generic file formats that you can load yourself from Garmin or Tomtom (they use a very specific format on the SMEG+ unit). You have to buy them from Citroen.

I would be inclined to get in touch with Citroen Australia or via your dealer and raise the question with them. Citroen UK have a 'customer service' team who will usually assist in these type of queries, so hopefully they will be able to assist.

Looking at speed camera updates for Eu... on that site for 6.99. Looks to be latest update me 15-2. Has anyone bought this. Does this need activating once bought?

Cheers

No it doesn't need 'activating' just installing but... you must have the engine running to avoid the car going into ' economy mode' or the update will fail with a potential system crash.

Not bad...tempted with the whole years updates for £26.99 as long as it's from the date of purchase!

Anyone who has done this. How up to date is the database and how accurate is the information?

Very difficult to know how to up to date as limits as cameras are changing all the time and it isn't at all clear who Citroen obtain this data from either.

I just bought one update for £6.99 which continues to work and is fine. There is a 10% off promo code that I think is still valid which can be used for this, annual or map updates - its on one of my other posts if you search (something like CITROEN-PROMO).

I was simply interested in enabling yet another new feature on my car, rather than actually needing this info! The option remains greyed out on the SMEG+ until you load an update via a USB stick and then it becomes live. A particular major stretch of road I travel on has average speed cameras but wasn't in the update, so its not that up to date.

As far as I know, 1 years update gives 12 monthly updates, as Citroen issue them every month.

A nice feature is that it beeps quietly at you when you approach a camera, regardless whether you have navigation on or not. It then double beeps when you leave the area as well. This combined with the standard navigation feature of road speed limits shown (for major roads and motorways) on the navigation screen are also good. When I recently drove to London, I saw symbols and warnings so many times as they have far more than rural Essex.

Admin - do you know where my original post has gone as the link does not work any more? It was working Ok when I first posted it.

It summarised my findings about updating the risk areas and also mentioned the Citroen discount code as well?

No idea I'm afraid. All I can think of is was linked to a post in the Market Place or a 'Newbie' forum which get cleaned on a regular basis although unlikely as posts have to be older than 60 days with no reply in Market Place.
