Hi, I recently purchased a C4GP SX on an 07 Plate. There were no fixpoints for roofracks so I have decided to fit roof rails to the car so that I can use a set of Thule roofracks that I already have. I sourced a pair of brand new roof rails from Luffield Citroen on ebay for £190 (normal price was nearly double that!) and the arrived today so started fitting.... First problem is that the roof rails do not come with the the plastic caps to go over the bolt area, phoned Luffield up and they were surprised but said it looks like it is an additional part, which I have had to order at nearly £60 for the 4 caps! (includes a discount!) I also had to order the specific bolts at around £1 each - so if you are ordering then beware of the additional costs - why they don't all just come in a pack, I have no idea. So I decided to go ahead and start fitting anyway as essentially it is just 4 torx bolts per rail. I couldn't find the torque settings anywhere but assumed it would need to be fairly tight and saw a toyota page that said their roof rails should be 23nm. I set my torque wrench and away I went. The first bolt got tight and then rounded off! The second bolt didn't even get to 23nm and sheared right off! Disaster! I managed to remove the rounded torx bolt so I got the rail back off again, but I cannot get the protruding sheared off screw out of the car. Have tried mole grips and heating it so will have to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. So... before I try again, does anyone know what sort of torque they should be set to??? Really appreciate any help. Thanks |

I can't help with the torque settings but have you got all the parts? - Click Here - Just a thought since the plastic caps weren't included & there seems to to be braces that you haven't mentioned! |

Thanks for the reply, I don't think I have anything that looks like items 5, 80 and 81. But I can't really see what they are. Are they the threads that are built into the car? Also the bolts I was sold were part number 411504 and they look a lot longer than the diagram for bolt 70. When I contacted Luffield Citroen before buying the roof rails, they said that all that was needed was 8 x bolts (part 411504) but these do not appear to be very strong! I have fitted the other side and not done the up very tight and the rails do flex a fair bit - is this normal????

Reading that post, it looks like the bolts mentioned by Admin Dave are a different part number? "Parts diagram is shown below so your going to need the bolts marked (70) part number: 8361 72 which are £00.30 each from a dealer." Have I been sent the wrong bolts? |

Well the torque settings for the bolts are 0,8 ± 0,2 m.daN. You would have found the Technical Document for fitting the longitudinal Rails in the 'Accessory Fitting Guides' section - Click Here - In English that's 8nm of 5.9 ft/lb (From - Click Here - ) which does seem low but... BTW 4115 04 is a replacement part number for 8361 72 (70 on the diagrams) |

Great, thanks Dave, I'm annoyed I didn't find that first (my search was for roof rails not bars!). Oh well now just to remove the broken bolt.... Any suggestions are very welcome!!!

To remove the bolt, either drill out the bolt centre and use an 'easy out' or very very carefully, weld a nut on and use that to remove, but you have to be careful not to mark the paint or the headlinging so option 1 is preferred

Hi I want to assemble a second hand roof rail on my C4GP and missing the bolts. Tried googling 8361 72 and 411504 bolts and couldn't find these bolts' specifications. Could you share these bolts' specifications or link to manufacturer site? Thanks, Noam. |

The Tech Doc/Parts list does not give dimensions/specifications. The bolts are only £1.25 each inc Vat at 20% from Citroen Dealers here in the UK. Why does everyone think they can find things cheaper on all parts and save a lot of money by not going to a Citroen Dealer? |

You are right Dave - it was simpler ordering it from the Citroen dealer. I assumed wrongly that it will only be sold as part of the roof rail kit, but it is available and I ordered it. |
