 I have the above and am thinking of removing the 3rd row of seats to increase the towing capability.

As usual with something simple in theory, am I missing something. The difference in towing weights between the 5 seat and the 7 seat seems big, but somehow the answer seems too simple.

 There is also a lot of extra weight in the extra body work/glass and fittings in the GP over the 5 seat

 Removing the 3rd row seats won't make a significant difference to the cars plated towing capacity and it's not easy to determine.

According to Citroen's Published Specifications: The 2009 C4GP 1.6HDi has a maximum laden weight of 2,250 kgs and a Maximum towing weight of a 'Braked' trailer of 1,180 kg (that appears different to the Tech Guide below so make sure you check the cars plate itself.

The only gain would be on the Gross Train Weight which is plated on the car itself - Click Here - and should be 3,130 kg according to the Technical Weights guide for the 7 seat HDi's - Click Here -

That's the best place to look - open the passenger door and there should be a label with all the details. It should be specific to your vehicle with your VIN on int.

 It's not the seats that cause the issue, for some reason the Grand Picasso 1.6HDi has a much lower towing limit than the 5 seater models (1300kg from memory) - sadly, you can't go above this even if you remove the seats.
