Took delivery of my new Exclusive + yesterday and today I have no top display so the car cannot be driven!! I went to the garage this morning, the car started but there were three beeps and I noticed that the top display had not switched on, I wondered if I had inadvertently pressed something I should not have but no, I restarted the car only to hear the beeps again and still no display.

I have scanned the manual and the net but found no reference to this problem. The dealer was no help and said to call back on Monday. I'm very very disappointed in my choice of new car.

Was it a brand new car, not just new to you?
If it was brand new and a Citroen dealer, the least they should have done is given you a replacement car to use until yours is fixed.
If it's brand new, when you go in Monday tell the dealer you are rejecting the car.

If it's brand new and that's the support you get then I would have it dumped across their access road ready for business on Monday morning, even if used if expect it to be the least they could do to collect the car and leave you with a replacement.

What exact model do you have and combination of accessories.... I know that BlueHDI will be able to give you more advice and info. about the problem. I've had my C4GP Excl+ since last Monday, no issue with the screen... mine is a 1.6 eHDI Manual but otherwise standard. I also know my car was built in Mid Dec. be interesting to compare versions.

Thanks for all your replies guys, the car is brand new and an automatic. The problem is the exact same one that bluehdi links to in his post. I have discovered that when I unlock the car in the morning there is no screen, however if I then lock the car again, leave for about 10 seconds and open it the screen comes on, however the engine management light comes on with a warning saying there is a fault and I should have the car repaired. I will contact the dealer this morning and see what their response is and keep you updated.
Cheers Zoobs

Very weird.... 2.0 litre version I assume?... have you got the software versions from your car yet?

Unless I have missed something this problem does appear to present itself in very specific circumstances and is dependent on the trim version of the car, whether it is manual/auto, engine size dependent and whether you have factory fitted extra's.

I've had mine 1.6eHDI Excl+ (Manual), December build, latest software, for a week, no screen issues....... Yet!!

Hi guys,

I received my C4GP 1.6 THP on September 1st last year. Right on the day before Christmas Eve I run into the blank top screen issue that many of you had also experienced.

However having a Peugeot 307 SW for more than 12 years now I didn't panic - I already knew that these little French b*stards like to "play" with you. I've already met numerous error messages telling Antipollution fault or like, total system resets once or twice right in the middle of the road but having read much about it I'm quite sure that these are not mechanical faults but some electrical if not software issues only.

So when I had the top screen blanked I started to do things to other way I did before the issue appeared. Having a keyless entry system I usually just touch the door handle, sit in the car and start up the engine. This time I opened the door by pressing the button on the remote, put the key in the holder behind the wheel, started the motor, kept running it for half a minute, stopped, got out of the car and closed it using the remote controller again.

Waited some 5 minutes or so, then opened the car with the remote and voila, the top screen came back. Staring the engine I also had beeps and error messages appearing about engine fault - but this is what my Peugeot taught me not to beleive in, so I wasn't affraid to drive away. It needed about 4 or 5 motor start ups and goes that both the irritating beeps and messages did vanish.

No more issues, no faults since - just enjoyment.

So don't panic and don't let the service company to take your dashboard completely apart - just try the above steps if you feel brave enough!

My C4 GP X+ does the same when the temp drops below zero and I also lose the handbrake and the keyless entry.

SIMILAR EXPERIENCE:

I haven't posted on this thread before but have had email correspondence with bluehdi and would thank him for his info and links to others with same problem.

We 'took delivery' of our new C4 Picasso Exclusive - eHDi115 manual on 16th January. Top screen failed following morning and similarly for a few days. Error code(s) were recorded and on 21st it was returned to Citroen Freeborn in Winchester who confirmed there were error codes and reset. Problem returned next day: in general it seemed to happen once per day first thing and we suspected the cold weather.

Taken back to Freeborn on the evening of 26th and they rechecked on 27th and confirmed similar error codes pointing to top screen problem. They were delighted to have the additional ammunition that I was able to refer to (from C4Owners member bluehdi) and confirmed that Citroen UK had authorised top screen replacement immediately. Back ordered but due in 5 or 6 days. They showed me the Citroen UK service screen for these error codes and it said: If problem persistent or customer difficult then replace screen. So it seems as Citroen UK are now clear that replacement is the only way forward but are trying to delay if possible.

Dealer provided replacement C4P and car was returned to us on February 6th. A very disappointing start to our ownership of a car which we are certain we will be delighted with otherwise.

So it pays to be well armed in dealing with the dealer and 'difficult' if needed.
Colin

Colin, do you know your build date?.. also just so I'm clear yours is not a "Plus"? but is it an auto or manual and do you have any electronic extra's.

I have a 115eHDI Excl+ manual and I would guess was buil;t around the same time as yours... no such issues with the top screen...... yet!

It would be extremely useful if those that have had a failed top screen, check out their ORGA number (found on the door pillar) which can then be checked to establish an exact build date for your cars - Click Here -

I don't think we'll find a specific pattern (as they range from mid 2014 to date) but it would be very useful to know nonetheless.

My car was built in September 2014.
