I know this is a C4 forum, but I though people might be interested in an issue we have had for some time and how Citroen have gone about resolving the situation. We bought the C3 in September 2011, so it is just under 3 years old. It is a 110bhp HDi Exclusive, and we paid extra to get auto lights/wipers, and also rear parking sensors. I can't remember when the issue with the parking sensors started, but when the car had been standing overnight in the rain, the sensors would go berzerk. On contacting the agent, they asked to see it, but of course every time I took it in they behaved perfectly. So they could do nothing. Eventually in early spring this year the problem occurred and I managed to get the car in (it is a 45 minute drive) and the fault was at last acknowledged. So they removed and cleaned the sensors and all was OK for spring and early summer, as it had been dry. So next time it happened and took it in, they consulted Citroen, who recommended a special treatment on the sensors, checked the error log (don't know if they had done this before) and found loss of communication between sensors and radio, and cleaned the terminals on the back of the radio. Still no luck. Phoned last Thursday to book in with little time to sort it this week. MOT Monday, (no issues) then on holiday in Austria tomorrw (Thursday0 So in again yesterday. Went to pick it up at lunchtime and was asked to take a loan car as they wanted a Citroen specialist to look at it today. So I came home in the DS3 pictured below. So today the speciallist has recommended new sensors, new wiring and a new ECU. So we had to leave it at dealers for 3 weeks, and return the loan car, plus remove yellow jackets and breathalysers for France. So here's hoping it will be fixed when we get back. Here is the loan car. I've been trying to find out what it is. It is a petrol. It doesn't appear to be a DSign, as it is only available with the 82bhp 3 cylinder engine. It isn't a Dsire as that only has the 155bhp THP and six speed. So my guess it is a DStyle (second trim). But it has 17" wheels, auto aircon rather than standard aircon, and rain sensitive wipers with auto lights. So my guess is that it has been well specced up with options. When I got it, it had less than 600 miles on the clock, and a computer fuel reading of 37.2mpg. Previous drivers must have been very heavy-footed as I managed to get 53mpg on the computer while I had it. |
