I have now received confirmation from Citroen UK. They will NOT cover the costs of replacing the air suspension with springs. I'm going to contact [%*^#@!] to see if they want to take up the cudgel again. There were no airbags in the UK until very, very recently, so you either changed to coils or had your car off the road forever. | ||||

Well just had a result from citroen UK. Very pleased, I emailed enquiring about repairs as I'd already paid to have airsprings done once and now the compressor has failed. They immediately offered to cover 80% of the cost, confirmed they would continue to cover them till the car is 10 years old or has 120,000 miles on the clock. Fixed price repair is £75 for a pair of airsprings £196 for a compressor Shakira was brilliant phoned me several times to let me know what was going on, give me prices etc. I emailed her with the invoice for previous airspring replacement done at my local non citroen garage and they've immediately agreed to refund 80% of that too! Also got £20 gift voucher from duff Morgan for taking an extra day to get the parts in. Only complaint they didn't wash & hoover the car that it says they did on the invoice but can't really complain. |

Is there any limit to how long ago the repair was done? I had both airbags on my '07 C4GP Exclusive replaced about 3 years ago at around 70k miles. Just read through this thread and am considering applying for a refund. | ||||

Interesting you should ask DP because I was talking to Citroën U.K. a couple of hours back about the self same question and I was assured that there is no time constraint other than the 10 year mark. The reason I was asking was that I had the rear bags replaced 2 1/2 years back at 40 something thousand Km and I wasn't informed that it was a known problem. A couple of months back I took the car, same as yours but a left hooker, back into Citroën Carcassonne because I thought the pump was too active. I had already seen this thread and asked about the 1st problem. They said they were surprised I hadn't been informed and reimbursed. They did the tests and said all is well with the suspension. Since then I have been chasing it with Citroën Customer 'Service' France and they have told me "no way, no reimbursement" bacause the job was done over a year ago!!! So now, a question that someone may know the answer to? I have the name of the boss man of Citroën France, Carlos Tavares, but can anyone confirm that the address for him is 12 rue Fructidor 75017 Paris. I have to admit that they have offered to reimburse 80% of the non existant bill for the checking of the possible fault from the 8th December this year. Problem is that I didn't get a bill when I took it in for the check. They didn't charge me anything and it wasn't anywhere near the 8th Dec anyway! I suppose that 80% of nothing is better than nothing. |

RESULT!!!!!!! Well!! I obviously rattled somebodys cage. Last Tuesday I wrote to Carlos Tavares and layed out the situation and that he had a very upset bunny on his hands. Also that the U.K. lot didn't have the time constraint. This morning I had to sign for a letter from our local Citroën dealer and it contained a nice cheque for 290€. We had a similar situation several years back when the particulates filter gave up the ghost on our C8 after about 35,000km. They weren't going to pay out until I wrote to the then boss man. All of a sudden we had a BIG cheque in response. So take note any of you guys here in France, being a very sqeeky hinge works!! |

Hi all, We're a couple of days into owning a C4 Picasso Exclusive, it's and 08 plate with 45k on the clock, we bought it because the mileage was pretty low and it's a very nice car for the price we paid... Thought I'd browse round forums and see what's what and happened upon this thread. The pneumatic suspension appears OK thus far (touch wood), it seemed to need to raise the rear a little on start up this morning (after a coldish night) but I've had no warnings or uncomfortable ride out of the initial ~100 miles or so... Are there any earlier warning signs I should be looking for with air bag leakage or compressor wear? Is there any sort of mileage they tend to give up at, or is it more just age related? Lastly, should I contact Citroen about the possibility of their funding preventative work of this known fault, rather than wait for the [%*^#@!] end of the car to drop, potentially causing damage and needing recovery? |

Hi, I'm a 2007 C4 Grand Picasso 1.6HDi owner from Norway, and I found this thread, and forum, when searching for answers to my rear suspension troubles. And here in this thread it's very clear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Bought my C4 GP when it was 5 years in 2012. The previous owner had the airsuspension bags replaced on both sides in Feb 2011 (right side) and Feb 2012 (left side). After I bought it the compressor was also changed in 2013, at my own expense. First sign I had of this problem though was last winter. I brushed the problem away then because I thought it was the sub-zero temperatures that had made the height sensor stick. Problem disappeared as the temperature rose in the spring. This winter though, I've had the same troubles, but this time also AFTER the temperature rose above 0. Therefore I investigated further and it would seem like the bags are leaking. So I contacted both the local dealer and the garage which changed the parts in 2011/12. But the answer I got there was that the warranty for the parts was just 1 year, and long past. I then proceeded in informing them about the statement made by Citroen in the UK on this matter, but still they won't replace my air bags. So my question to you here on this forum is; - have any of you gotten this problem covered by Citroen in any other country than the UK? - and, don't you think that it would be expected that they would cover this in any country, as long as it is the same model and same parts?? I'm considering contacting a tv-show here in Norway, which deals with consumer issues like this, about this problem. Hopefully they can shed some light on this problem here in Norway as well, if Citroen don't want to own up to this problem. |

I thought I'd add a recent update to this thread. Bought a 2010 C4 GP EGS 1.6 Exclusive a year ago. Airbag problems started in early December and totally went Christmas Eve. Went to dealer in Dublin in the New Year, two airbags needed replacing. Dealer contacted Citroen who opened a case and agreed they would cover 80% cost of parts and labour. Was happy with that, although a bit angry that the issue arose so soon into ownership and it being only 5 years old. Thought 100% would have been warranted. Anyway, last week compressor started making a strange noise and then went silent. Suspension fell and would not raise up. Back to dealer who diagnosed compressor unit needed replacing €950 (parts, labour, diagnostic etc...)!! Was fearing the worst as was not 100% sure if Citroen would cover this under their previous commitment. However, called them and remained calm and talked them through my situation. Case logged and called back the next day to confirm would also cover 80% cost for replacing compressor. A result for me and should give comfort to others in the same situation. As far as I'm aware they should cover these issues up to 10 years old or 120,000 kms. 80% not ideal as really should be 100% cover or recall considering this fundamental fault with the design/parts. But a real result considering that before July 2014 must have been 0% commitment. Very happy with the car apart from suspension. Love the space and practicality for a 3 kid family. |

Well the inevitable has happened, compressor seems to have given up, car's bum is on the floor. I will be calling the local Citroën specialist tomorrow but assuming it's both the compressor and the bags that need doing, even after Citroën's 80% contribution I would probably be as well spending ~£300 to have a spring kit fitted... |

Airbags replaced in 2011. Didn't know about the 80% thing so will follow that up! Near side bag leaking again this month - pair of coil springs delivered. borrowed jack and axle stands. had to purchase coil spring compressor to get them in - but fitted and perfect in a couple of hours. Ride's as good as ever on coils and no panic that it's going to self-destruct without warning! Only downside is the 'suspecsion faulty' message at switch-on, but that can wait until the next time it goes in. All-in-all... i'd recommend the coil spring option for a reliable and stress free fix. |

Just joined the C4 GP owners. I had the airbags replace in October 2013 at 44K, Citroen refunded £210 of £300 cost but I did not know of the 80% refund, so am down by £30, but is it worth the hassle ?? The compressor failed at 48.5K, May 2014, went high and would not lower, and I was quoted £1014 to replace, so I went to Euro Car Care who fitted the coil springs etc for £334. I sold the air bags on e-bay and BBA-Reman.com bought the duff compressor (they also refurb/exchange for iro£150) All is now OK at the back and I don't notice any difference in the car's handling. |
