Mine seems to be loose BUT not the usual problem with metal fatigues as the insulated fabric which the metal shield joins onto seems to be deceased - see pix below. I have pulled in on top of the shield to show the problem.

Is it worth repairing with new holes and mecanno like strips of metal????

Oh that is a mess. Personally I would replace it rather than bodge it.

is the insulated felt part an integral part of the heat shield or would I have to buy it as a separate part?

I'll pop into dealers and check.
Its a 55 reg Aug 2005 five door 1.6Hdi C4

Dealers have said that it is a separate part c £29 but their onscreen parts guide did not identify what it is made of. There are three parts to the turbo heat shield - front, back and the top part .
As the car has done 150,000 miles I feel a bodge would be the best solution.
Dealer said that the turbo spins up at abut 1200 revs and so would be in use most of the time.
Not sure how hot it would get on city journeys of 30 mins or so - may not be worth bothering.
Otherwise it is motorway journeys of c200 miles and so i cant see it getting overheated . . . . . . unless you folks know differently
