Unless they've considerably increased the sump volume, I'd play safe with 12,500 miles/20K Km maximum.

The warnings on Citroen's own recommended oil change intervals couldn't be clearer. - Click Here -

Problem is - if the car says 12500 but I don't take it in until 16000, and there's a problem, does it give Citroen a way out of a warranty claim? I collected my car on 29/4 and the dealer still said the service interval was 12500.

Hi.
I figured that turning over this rock something might crawl out!

My service was a shambles as the car, book and salesman all stated a 12.5k service but the service manager (and his computer) was adamant it was 16k.

After insisting on a signed letter from the manager of the dealership stating that waiting until 16k will not kill my warranty, they agreed that my car is on a 12.5k schedule and serviced it.

It would appear that around RPO 13509 on C4 Picasso B78 there was a change that allowed a longer service schedule.

I checked and there is no difference in the engine detail so it must be an oil difference.

Sump volume is apparently unchanged.

Longer service intervals would be nice (as I have two per year) but I worry for the life of these engines!

I'll stick with 12.5k

Mine went in for a Recall for a check on the High pressure fuel pipe tightening torque of the fixings etc.

Whilst at the dealer I asked, when would mine be due for a service 12500 or 16000mls.
Confirmed its 16000mls or 12mths

16000mls between service's is far too long. My C4 gets serviced every 12 months, it also gets an oil change every 6 months.

Gosh - oil at £26 from Neilson and genuine filters from various (ebay) sources at £7 ish every 6 - 9k for oil changes. Is that really so expensive in the long term. Even if you have to pay a tame mechanic to do it for you?
Thankfully I can do it myself but even if I was paying for the 12,500 or 16000 services I would purchase the correct oil and filter and find a tame mechanic who would do an interim oil change for me

My last car was a insignia 2.0 SRi and that did 20k between services no problem.

You'll find most of manufacturers today do 20k between services.

It's no problem for N/A petrols, but the small turbo on the DV6 is another story.

Unfortunately it's not the small turbo that's the problem, it's the small sump!

I recently bought a 2013 GC4P Intense, and the cars service manual includes an inserted card stating that the 1,6e-HDI 115 service interval is now 25'000km (approximately 16000 miles). This was obviously changed after the book was printed, because the book states 20'000km (12500miles)

This week on startup the screen started telling me that service is required in 6000 miles or 8 weeks.
The car has done about 5900 miles so in that sense it's about right, but the car was registered on 29/1/14, so the service isn't due for much more than 8 weeks. If I look on My Citroen it shows 119 days, 29/1/15 as the due date, so I don't know where it's getting 8 weeks from.

The service interval will be either 1 year or 12500 miles (which ever comes first). So if you get to the mileage in less than a year it will be ready for a service. I'm assuming it a diesel and not petrol. I also assume "my Citroën" doesn't know how many miles you have covered as yet.

I'm averaging about 1000 miles a month, so will only be at approx 10k when the year is up. My point is the car is telling me the service will be due about 6 weeks before the one year is up.
The date on MyCitroen tallies with one year from first registration. I'm wondering if the car has been counting from when it was first booted up at build time, and maybe should have been reinitialised in some way when it first went on the road, but wasn't.

Hmm. Don't know about that but I would go by the service indicator. I didn't realise there was a date counter as well (not on the original C4) Perhaps someone else will have a better idea. Best to quote your model & engine, still nothing wrong with getting the service done early the first time. Sounds to me from other posts that MyCitroen relies the dealer detail and perhaps the electronics on the car knows best.

Sounds like the PDI wasn't completed properly, the service indicator should have been reset for the date of registration although none of us know how long the oil has been sat in the sump before this date (but you do!), there's no harm in getting it done early (I.e. When the indicator says)
