Actually it is very sad, that the guy from nowhere (I am not a mechanic and I do not have an uncle somewhere) can be more helpful then authorized services. I think this the worst part of having Citroen.

Well I got my V55/5 off to DVLA on Wednesday last, accompanied by:

01. HMC&E Nova notification
02. Certificate of Conformity
03. IVA
04. MOT
05. German Certificate of Ownership (Teil 1)
06. German Vehicle Certificate (logbook, Teil 2)
07. Proof of identity (passport and driving license photocopies)
08. Proof of address (driving license and bank statement)
09. Cheque for first registration
10. Cheque for 12 months car tax

I hope it all goes through OK.

Anyone know what the typical time is to get the registration document back from DVLA?

Yes, I got my logbook (V5C), updated MOT and a tax disc, after about 10 days. They sent all my supporting documents back separately, and they arived a couple of days later. I then went on a three week holiday.

I am now back, and about five days ago I posted off my V5C, together with my Certificate of Entitlement for the personalised number plate, and the MOT. They told me about 10 days (over the phone) to get back the updated V5C, MOT, and tax disk.

I also got a full set of European maps on CD for the satnav, as I only got the German Map CD when I bought the car.

The German left-hand drive headlights that were removed have still not sold on Ebay after 6 weeks, and I was only asking £75 for the pair. Was this too much?

Cheers

Got my authorisation today to put on my personalised number plates, so that was fairly quick. They also included an updated tax disk and MOT certificate. They also said the updated Registration Certificate (V5C) will follow, within the next 4 weeks. I now have to figure how to remove the German plates. There are no screws so I am guessing that there are adhesive strips on the back, but I don't want to damage the car getting them off.

Hair dryer (or hot air paint stripper but stand well back, )to heat the plate and soften the adhesive ?

Actually, when I examined the car number plates I found they were simple clip-in, clip-out types. They clipped in to a plastic frame, that's why I saw no screws, they were behind the number plates. The number plate frames were like this one:

So I unclipped the German plates, and clipped in the personalised UK plates.

I then got my insurance sorted (via GoCompare) and went for the number 2 quote, Admiral, who charged me £346 fully comp, with zero no-claims, parked on driveway, sole driver, 6,000 miles/year. I rejected the number 1 quote, from Insure Wiser, as several people had had trouble with them (when I checked various forums), even though they only quoted £307, with free breakdown cover included (Admiral charge extra for this).

I also guessed that I should place my car tax disk on the kerbside of the windscreen, so it can be inspected safely, although the disc partially obscures the driver's view, being LHD

So, as from tomorrow, I am 100% fully UK registered and legal, and I can take my Citroen C4 to the roads

I wouldn't be too bothered about this. I have a German Umweltzone sticker in mine in the corresponding corner and it is far too low to cause issues.

From November this year it's looking like there will be no need to display the tax disc anyway.

BTW my 52 Traction is LHD with a far smaller windscreen than the C4GP and I don't have an issue with it obscuring my vision

I placed the disc in the right corner. Never any problems.

Now I have researched this it does appear that you must display the tax disc on the left side of your windscreen (if fitted), i.e the kerbside. This is in the Road Traffic Act of 1988.
