Last November I traded-in my 08 reg GC4P HDi 110 EGS6, with an almost faultless, 110,000 miles on the clock, for a brand new C4 VTR+ Airdream EGS6. Smaller, I thought; nippier, I thought; more economical I thought; zero road tax. I couldn't loose, I thought! The honeymoon lasted for 3 months and then, at 4 months and 8,000 miles, I traded it in for another GC4P. Same trim, same spec, same colour (Nocciola) but it was a 3 year old ex-Motability vehicle with 25K on the clock. How great it was to get back my "old" car... Spacious, comfortable, huge boot, enough seats for friends and family - particularly room for 3 friends who preferred to be less than intimate in the middle row of seats, 50+ mpg and only £130 road tax, the buttons on the steering wheel stayed in the same place... It was perfect I've had, and loved, small Citroens in the past, like a GS, a Dyane, two BXs and an (unlovely) ZX, so I really hadn't expected to have these problems with the C4. I guess it just goes to show what a stunningly good design the C4GP really is. I've learned my lesson, and if this is good as my last one I can see me nursing it until it - or I - die Peace reigns in the Gordon Household once more! |

We are starting to plan Pablo's replacement and as much as we don't need a people carrier, there's so much to like about the Picasso that it has to be on the short list; its not for a while yet but I am hoping the facelifted car drops into budget late this year. We are looking at DS4's too. | ||||

Re-reading my original post, I may have been slightly un-generous to the C4, which had almost everything I wanted (stationary steering wheel boss and pneumatic suspension excepted), but after the GC4P it just didn't have the space, and I don't think that a DS4 would have been any better. I have a friend who has just negotiated a new C4P 110 manual for just £14.5K, so Citroen seem keen to sell them. It's sad that they've dropped the air suspension from the latest GPs, it gave an amazing ride. |

I always think this is a good place to check before going to see a dealer - it may not be possible to get quite this low but dealers should be able to get close; - Click Here - One of my neighbours has just swapped their C3 Picasso 1.6HDI 110 exclusive for a C4 Picasso 1.6HDI Platinum in Kaynos Blue - I thought the Onyx roof would look odd but it really suits it. |
