I've seen a few threads on engine mods for my 1.6 petrol but what else could I do to get a bit more power it has a induction and a long life cat back, was thinking cams etc. any ideas looking for about 140bhp 150bhp ??

Also is the VTR engine the same as the C2 GT 1.6 and the Saxo 1.6 VTS?? or similar, can anyone help me regarding this??

Simpler and cheaper to trade the car for a 180 VTS

A lot of the parts are common but require modification to fit onto the C4. IIRC the Cams and head off the Saxo VTS are different to the C2GT and hence the C4 as well, all will 'fit' but require work.

As Dave says, if you want the extra power the VTS option is by far the easier and more reliable option. If you want to extract any more power out of the 180 that too is at its near maximum power.

Then all the electronics, suspension, brakes, &c. are upgraded correspondingly, and the VTS 180 has a spoiler too.

The 180 isn't near maximum. Getting more power N/A is just expensive after the basic mods. However people like sandy brown can build them to 2.1 litre throttle bodies setups and they run around 270hp in that state of tune. But street ability is not that great. It's basically meant for track work.

There are some 500+ BHP turbo builds as well and some 300+ supercharger builds.

If you want more power though. Rather than blow £1200 on cams. Why not look at maybe asking Gary Stone to V6 it. Around £2800. But if he does it from a donor car he can use the brembo brakes etc as well. Long run, it'll get you power cheaper with scope for more. As a mildly tuned 3.0 lump is around 240/250hp.

I'm only 18 so getting a VTS is a very bad idea as nobody would touch me on insurance so as much as I want one it's not happening for a while, I mainly want to know what cams will fit the 1.6 petrol?

Quite a lot of choice, but you really need to think what you want the car to drive like. Some will end up pushing power past the 7000rpm mark. Which means you will ideally need other work as well.

Have to do some investigating really. Hard to just say, get this cam over that cam. As you might hate the power delivery. Would also check insurance out, they can be quite bad on mods like that.
