When you go back in, tell them that there is a bulletin on this. No replacement parts are neccessary!

Mention Info Rapid C4 Picasso - 8 - No. 40.

What is the actual published fix then Phil?

There's a burr inside the fuel filler recess which needs removing. (shown at 'a') The flap basically jams on this.

Funnily enough we've had one in today and it cured it.

Have now done 600 miles and already have a sticky fuel cap. Seems like they haven't resolved it on the new models.

If you car was built before they worked out the issue then it wouldn't have been sorted on the production line.

Welcome BTW

Same problem with my filller cap. Bought my c4gp in september this year, nearly 5.000 km so far. Grat ride, but the filler cap refuse to open when i push the button. Thougt that it must depend on that I seldom have to fill her up 0.6l /10 km! (Dont have a clue when U speak about mpg- I`m Norwegian)

When I try the button, I can hear a clicking sound from the filler cap, bu nothing happens. I have to push around the lid, as to working the gasket a little, than push the button again. Seems like that the mechanism has fastened a little . After having succeed opening, it opens unproblemly the rest of the day, but after beeing closed 2-3 weeks, it´s always stuck.
Gonna sent this tread to my dealer and ask what he is going to do about it. Glad that I found this tread to document what seems to be a common problem.

BTW anyone that has an idea how to connect a battery charger?

As the thread has probably given you the answer to your filler cap problem - please give us the secret of your good fuel consumption. It is what one might expect in Holland but you can't go far from Oslo without encountering a mountain!

After 3000km I am still using 0.72 L for 10 Km. I do have to use the accelerator a bit to keep in the rythm of Spanish traffic of course.....

Fuel consumption:

0.45 l/10Km = 62 mpg
0.50 l/10Km = 56 mpg
0.55 l/10Km = 51 mpg
0.60 l/10Km = 47 mpg
0.65 l/10Km = 43 mpg
0.70 l/10Km = 40 mpg
0.75 l/10Km = 37.5 mpg

As regards charging the battery, you shouid disconnect it before attaching the charger.
Is there any reason why you need to charge the battery?

Im slow on the pedal, and it's a 1,6 hdi Emg. BTW when going up one mountain, there will always be a downhill on the ohter side .
The reason that i want to charge the battery, is that she seems to be going into " economy mode '" after short time beeing parked.

you could use a trickle charger without removing the battery, Ive done this for years, helps a lot in colder months .. 'conditions' the battery

Yes, but where do I connect? The positive pool is easy to find, but can I connect the negative to ground, and then start charging??

Economy mode is normal it is there to stop you draining the battery. It will kick in regardless of you charging the battery or not. Something you have to live with unfortunately. Been a few complaints about it. It can not be turned off and generally kicks in between 15 and 30 minutes.

Ive always connected direct to the battery, but a known ground point will work..

most battery conditioners have LEDs on them to say if they are charging / connected properly etc

Well my C4 GP has been in for its !st service "1000 mile" and at the same time to sort the sticking fuel cap.

All they did was spray some lubricant onto the mechanism.

Great it worked, but only for a day.

I've checked for the Burr as noted in "Info Rapid C4 Picasso - 8 - No.40", no burr seen.

So I've got to return it again, for them to sort it out.

How much longer will this go on ?? !cursi!

On another note, some manufacturers have a pull cord attached to the mechanism in the avent of failure inside the boot, has these got one.??

I have now had three sets of parts fitted , had two different sprays, three types of grease/silicon/graphite pastes used and guess what...Yes it still sticks and the only way to open it is to ask a stranger to gently pull the filler flap as I press the button in the cabin. This is a joke. For a company the size of Citroen to exhibit such shoddy aftersales service and blatant disregard for what is obviously a design fault is beyond belief.

Doesnt stop me phoning the dealer every three days and making a [%*^#@!] nuisance of myself though. The service manager must be fed up to the back teeth with me phoning..bet as the saying goes...... No pain no gain so its telephone time again at 09:00 tomorrow

I can see a couple of ways to proceed, just keep taking it back every time it sticks It is being repaired/looked at under warranty and someone is having to pay for all the time and parts.

Give the dealer a date after which you will reject the car as not fit for purpose, I think a car you cannot put fuel into comes under this category. The dealer is allowed 3 attempts to fix any fault after which you can claim it cannot be fixed and you want a replacement or a full refund. Check out the government consumer advice sites about rejecting faulty goods.
