Hi Guys,

Got my 1.6 HDi couple of weeks ago and it seems a lot faster than my petrol 1.6 that I had a couple of years ago. I don't know if its just because of the turbo on it or whether or not it had been remapped.

Is there any way of knowing if my C4 had been remapped by the previous owner?

Thanks

I suppose the definitive test to determine if the car's been remapped is to put it on a dynamometer, but the 110HDi can really power forward once the turbo is on song, around the 2K rpm mark.

The 1.6 petrol is rather lifeless compared to the HDi's

I was thinking exactly the same thing when I first put my foot down in the car, very surprised by the power. And now I'm thinking of a remap - is there really that much of a difference in pull with a remap as well then!?

The torque of the 1.6 petrol is around 160 Nm - the 110 diesel is 50% more, around 240 Nm, which you can feel in the back of the seat.

A remap could take the figure up to over 280 Nm…

Sounds promising!!

Need to convince the other half now that £235 will be worth it, or maybe I just wont tell her and wait for her to find out for herself when she drives it next :P

It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission.

A class bespoke re-map will make the engine more efficient, so not only is it more responsive with more oomph, but you fuel consumption should improve too (provided you don't over do it!)
