Hi.

I wasn't able to find this info from the resources section so here goes.

Anyone have any insights how to take the plastic trim off the b-pillar? Possibly without destroying it in the process Also, does one have to get new retainers for reattaching it?

I would clear coat them at the same time when painting the side strips. For them I have new retainers from Bresco already.

And seems that the small triangular part of the a-pillar is clear-coated in the tres sportive model aswell? We'll see. Propably would be worth to match the colour to the windsheald sidestrips and the spoiler insted of only clear-coating them.

Thanks for the info! No need for new fasteners then.
The a pillar part moves around quite a bit too. Haven't had the guts (yet) to use more force. - Click Here -

The B pillar of a Coupe came off easily as was described above. Work your fingers between the glass and the trim from the back at the bottom of the part. Then all is needed is a short pull. The bottom fastener will disengage, and the trim can be slid off from the upper clip.

The A part is attached by the same type of clips than the B is. Here is how I took it off. Open the door first. Work your fingers between the part and the bodywork from the side which is against the door. Part behaves the same way as the B does, the fastener closer to you will pop off and the part comes away.

I was able to take all four part easily off without breaking anything. I however recommend taking the B trims off first to see the fastener and get the hang of it

Painting the other bits went fine, but when the sun went down so did the temp. I must redo the lacquer, whoopee! Run out of lacquer all of a sudden amidst a part... Now the nearside B-pillar looks like something that needs to be unpimped...

You will have to put up some pictures of the finished items, and nearly made a pun typing that out....

Now the day of buffing is inevitably closing in. Today I committed my myself to buying a buffer and the accompanying goos to go with The picture below is after some test passes with 1200 grit wet sanding and hand polishing. ( Found out that is is hard to hold the part and the buffer with the same pair of hands simultaneously, who would have guessed! )
So far it is looking promising. I'll be continuing this process the forthcoming days.

1200 grit?

When the Traction was painted, it was rubbed down with 2000 grit then machine polished with 3m fluid

Not to worry this was a test pass, I have 2000 grit for the main event
Saw a video at the Yooutubeacademy which claimed some compounds to be able to buff out 1200 grit grooves. Hmm, come to think of it it was probably 3m liquids used in the video in question. I have Farecla G3 and G10 and Autoglym Super resin polish for the final touch. They are available here easily.
This was basically polished by hand. I had the panel off the car. Will be buffing them attached to something.
