My C4 is now producing hissing sound (just like gasses flowing through tight places. It is continuously on while I'm driving, although not that audible, it can be heard if I turn down the radio.

I know it is not normal as it does not produces it before. it is even louder right after I switch off the engine (with the aircon not switched of prior). What might be the problem?

I'm still covered under warranty, but the service centre is 150kms away, and I don't want to go and spend 1 whole day if I shouldn't be worried. Appreciate members comments

Sounds as if one of the vents has not opened properly and the air has to be pushed pass the closed vent.

If you have only got 150 kms left on your warranty, make a list and get it and anything else sorted before it runs out.

the hissing sounds like the freon gas is leaking? i am afraid that the cooling coil has started to leak, as in Malaysia most of Peugeot 308s have their cooling coil leak, especially that comes with THP engine..

Same thing in Europe?

Well if it was leaking then the gas pressure would drop and the AC pump would cut out and you would get no cold air.

Plus if it was leaking then it would do so without the ignition being on or the engine running.

Hi there, don't think that my post is related because your vehicle is so new. But you never know.

I had a hissing sound in the left side also around the vents of my 2005 C4. This hiss increased and decreased with acceleration and deceleration.

It turned out to be a puncture hole in the rubber turbo pipe that feeds the inter cooler.

The rubber had deteriorated causing a sort of "blow out".

There was also loss of power but not so much that I noticed it. I only noticed it when I replaced the pipe, suddenly the car had more power.

Loss of pressure I think? yeah i think its not related....had the aircond checked...it is the expansion valve faulty...gonna send my car this Monday....fingers crossed!

arghh...problem is back again.this time the hissing sound is loud! replaced expansion valve several months back...i wonder why my car failed the second time...maybe because i didn't switch off the a/c before switching off the engine?

nope...it continues....non stop as long as ac is on....btw here in malaysia, cooling coil leak is 'common' in 308s...same case in europe?

the BX used to "eat" the expansion valves. here in Israel where its very hot (over 30 Celsius) and humid (over 80%) 8 months a year the AC works fine. but the AC we get here is different then the AC in Europe, its much stronger.

I thought, it may be hissing from brake servo unit. That one stops when brake pedal is pressed.

Yeah mine might have the same problem.....since the service centre is a brand new one, no equipment ready to detect leaks....for now I just topped up the AC gas and wait for them to be ready perhaps next month...
