Just had the C4 fully serviced at a local independent Citroen garage.
C & T Garage, Widnes, Cheshire. It was a major service, cost was £180. The report on the car came back with a few faults. Apart from the wipers which I knew about and was replacing anyway, the faults are as follows.
O/S/R coil spring snapped.
N/S/R brake caliper partially seized and pads worn down.
Play in both steering arms.
Now need prices for these.
Anyone on here got any thoughts on these prices.
Thanks in advance.

C & T have been in Widnes for as long as I know and they have always been an independent Citroen garage. About 30yrs ago they had a small garage next to a pub I used to drink in. Back then 3 of my friends worked there. Don't know when they moved to where they are now, I just thought I would give them a go. As the first post earlier said, they gave the car a major service 2 weeks ago for £180 and I can tell it's been done. The car is driving a lot smoother now. They are located in Ditton Road, Widnes, which is easy to find. Give them a ring.

Got the car back at 5pm. They actually phoned me at lunch time to say that after further inspection the O/S rear brake caliper could also do with replacing as it's as bad as the N/S side. So that was 2 rear caliper's, a full set of rear pads and a rear coil spring for £320. While I was there I asked him about the dreaded turbo change. He said a turbo change (for my car) including all pipework and labour would be approx £800.

I've had new discs and pads on all four corners - £240 parts, £60 labour (remarkable!) and £60 VAT. Total £360.

Just done about 1,500 miles around the country and they're great!

ok so ive just read that really great buyers guide, where it says
"The forums on site are littered with posts on problems with the EGS (and later ETG) gearbox so avoid buying a car with one if you don't want problems and LARGE repair bills!!!!!." would others agree I should avoid?

There will be people who have had bad experiences with the EGS gearbox but I am glad I didn't listen to them. Its been for me the best gearbox I have ever had in nearly 50 years of driving. I have only one gripe and that is they don't still do the gearbox I have so I am stuck with my current car until its demise.

I'm a mechanic with 30 years experience and I did my clutch and flywheel myself on my own, granted I do have unlimited access to a fully equipped workshop where I work. Removal and refitting of the EGS box is very straight forward and in my opinion a very easy box to do. The thing that scares people the most is the price citroen dealers charge for this job around £1200. Yes you need lexia to set it up afterwards but still very easy to do. Why people are scared to death of these EGS boxes if you take them anywhere other than the dealers amazes me, there's an awful lot worse out there, try doing a clutch on a renault traffic van now that's a #%€! Job
