Can anyone advise the details for the first service interval for a new C4 diesel? My has 10400 miles to date. I understand it is 12,500miles? Does that mean before 12500 on the clock or what? What is the maximum no. of miles one can drive over this limit before warranty may be void? Reason I ask I was hoping to get the service done at half term from the dealer where I bought the car (located in Durham) and use the day for sightseeing. I estimate i might have about 13000 on the clock by mid Feb. |

Should be not more than 250 miles of 12,500 I think.

It is normally 500 miles or 30 days of the due service. Whichever is first.

Do not delay the oil change at 12,500 miles. Thorough and regular oil changes are essential for the 1.6HDi engine to ensure longevity of the turbo. While not required, using a flushing agent can only be of benefit. |

Hi if you want the car to be trouble free beyond 3 years (if you intend keeping beyond warranty period), change the oil much more frequently than Citroen recommend. My advice is just to do it every 6 months. Also use the correct oil specification (ACEA C2). Stinginess on lube oil is not a way to save money with a modern high tech diesel. Regards G |

rang the garage i bought my car from, was quoted £210 for 1st service on a diesel c4! (ouch!) another citroen garage quoted me £179, quite a difference. Hoping the 1st garage will price match as i got a 1/2 price voucher when i bought the car. |

I guess you have spend circa £16,000 on your new C4 so is a difference of £21 really significant? I would be choosing the service based on meeting the mechanic and having a look at the service bay. Plenty of opportunity for a careless approach to screw up your new motor. Also ask them to tell you manufacturer, tradename, specification of the lube oil they will use (it is very important on the diesels). The £21 difference might also be explained by this. Don't get fobbed off by Citroen approved either, many of them use the wrong stuff. Regards G |

Regards G Well I have booked first service with the garage I bought the car from (not my local one) mainly because I had a half price service offer thrown in with my car deal. Do not all Citroen dealers use the same lube oil? What spec of oil should they be using? |

No, they don't all use the same brand, but they should use the approved spec.

UPDATE: Phil wrote ... From 1st January 2014 the normal service intervals changed for certain models from 12,500 miles to 16,000 miles or one year. These include:- New C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso, C3(excluding C3 Picasso), DS3, C4, DS4, DS5, C5 Euro 5 - HDi 1.4 and HDi 1.6 Diesel Engines also VTi 1.0 and VTi 1.2 Petrol Engines. TO confuse things even further, the Berlingo From RPO code 13660 (3rd March 2014) has gone onto the 16,000 interval - however the C3 Picasso is still 12,500. |
