Hi,

I have recently started getting a Anti-Pollution Fault which started for the first time this morning on starting the car. The engine is running really smoothly, and the car was only serviced a week ago. I took it to the garage (unfortunately there are no agents where I live) who hooked the car up and got a P0350 fault - Ignition coil primary/secondary.

Unfortunately the garage said they cannot determine which coil of the 4 is affected, and advised that I run the car until it starts misfiring. The warning light keeps coming on though which worries me.

Does anyone have any suggestions of anything other than a faulty coil which may be at fault. As I said before, the car is not misfiring or lacking power at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yup, Error code P0350 = Ignition misfiring : Cylinder undetermined

Sadly it wasn't one of these:
P0351 = Ignition misfiring : No. 1 cylinder
P0352 = Ignition misfiring : No. 2 cylinder
P0353 = Ignition misfiring : No. 3 cylinder
P0354 = Ignition misfiring : No. 4 cylinder

It's possible your non-PSA dealer doesn't have the PSA-specific diagnostics, which may have been more helpful.

However, given the error code, your garage is following the recommended course of action.

Thanks for the help. I'll try get the car to a PSA dealer at the first opportunity I get (and hopefully the car will continue running ok until then). My gut feeling is that it's more of an ecu fault or short of some sort, it would be strange for the car to be running so smooth if the spark plugs or coil were at fault.

Update:

A week after my car first started giving the antipollution fault (P0350), the engine is now failing to start at all. I started the car (first turn, no hesitation) in the morning, drove 60 miles to another town with no loss of power or misfire. Stopped the car for a few hours, started it again (first turn), drove 1 mile (again no problems noted at all), stopped the car, tried to restart and nothing. The engine is turning over but not catching on any of the cylinders. (had to get towed 60miles back home!)

I'll take the car to the garage tomorrow but still not convinced the coils are at fault. Surely if the coils were faulty at least a couple of cylinders should catch?

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I should replace the coilpack, or should try something else first?

Same problem for me. misfiring in cylinder 2 and 4 on diagnostics. Replaced all spark plugs and ingnition coils. running ok for now

The garage replaced the coil pack today but still not starting. I'm thinking either the main relay or ECU...
