Anyone else had this problem - get into the car and find the doors won't shut - get back out and find the door handle has stuck open and has to be pushed in!! Just a blob of grease should sort it, but suprised it affects BOTH door handles???? BTW it's the 3 door coupe variety I have!! |

This is a known fault. I would recommend not using grease as dirt and grit has a tendency to stick to the compound and being in an exposed location may cause exsessive wear. Use something like WD40, Nylon Lube in a spray can with straw nozel. Its more direct and reduces spray on body work. However dont go mental with the sraying as you run the risk of driving out the factory applied lube inside the door or at least the small ammount that was originally applied. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the reply - WD40 it is then!!! As it's a known fault, has anyone approached their dealer about it to have it properly corrected?? |

yes i had mine fixed last week, there is a part inside the handle is wider at one end so when you pull the handle it sticks, the garage trimmed this down and greased it. Same thing was happening on my bosses new 3 series its a similar handle.

Yep i've had this aswell, thought i'd trapped the seatbelt buckle or something when the door just bounced open again, unfortunately it's only one of a long list of faults i've had! |

Yep.. Have had the same problem on both doors. I've got the whole lock replaced on the driver side. The job was covered by warranty. |

It's interesting to see that this was handled underwarranty. The first time I experienced this problem my passenger swung open, hit another car and creased the edge of my door! Thankfully there was no damage to the other car, and no paint loss on mine because I had fitted one of those rather ugly door edge protectors. I wonder if I should claim for repair/replacement of the door given that this issue has been recognised by Citroen. |

I've also had the drivers door handle attended to by Citroen.

I had the problem of my door handle sticking due to the cold this morning - had to get in via the passenger side - sucked! Anyway, i got a bit annoyed with the door and tried opening it from the inside and then i heard a click, but the door still wouldn't open. However, the door will now open from outside, but the inside door handle doesn't work. I fear i may of broken the mechanism in my anger and i wondered if anyone knew how to fix/check the problem? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers |

If it is frozen not quite the same thing as everyone on here is talking about. There handles stick open so the doors can't close. Opening isn't an issue. Just the lubrication needs replacing as it has been taken away by weather conditions. Sounds like the door has frozen shut (It happens with most cars) and in anger you have done damage to it. Not sure what to suggest other than taking the door panel off and inspecting the mechanism that way. |

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. Just wondered if anyone else had broken the mechanism before and knew how to fix it. Think i will have to take the door panel off as suggested, and i think there are only about 4 screws to do this, but if you know how easy it is could you let me know? otherwise i'll just take it to kwik fit. Cheers |

4 screws for the door panel, pull at the bottom till the clips pop and work around Don't forget the one in the door pull that points down though. |
