Ok mines fixed as well now thanks. I did it in a slightly different way. Firstly I removed the carpet section from underneath the dash, its held in place by two pushpin type fasteners. Then I was able to put my hand underneath and press out the trim underneath the steering wheel to reaveal a large hole which allowed me to see the motor control unit. All I did then was to move the white quadrant - it moved quite easily and the motor will move it but not far enough to direct the air. For now the screen will demist and next time as I know now what to move I will remove the carpet section only and reach up to the white quadrant to help it on its way. |

Hello Do you have any idea how much that flap motor costs please? |

Sorry - I have no idea - still giving the flap a tweak when it needs it - which is not very often - perhaps someone else maybe?

Have a look at my post from the other week. - Click Here - You may well find that the motor is absolutely fine, it's just the directional mixer arm that is either bunged up with grease that has become sticky, or the hexagonal hole where the motor slots in has sheared, allowing the motor to slip instead of moving the arm. The replacement arm is part of the revised heater repair kit. |

A random service I asked today at told me it would be around 35/40 Eur for that motor. However, is there any electronic system for those flaps or for the entire air distribution? Today on the way back home it started to work so I could switch them again, but after I turned the engine off and on again is the same problem... My initial problem was that all of a sudden the air distribution is blocked into wind-shield position. The demist button works as it should though, so is heating and AC. I guess there is no fuse for air distribution, that would be too easy - I couldn't find one at least. |

If it was a blown fuse it wouldn't work at all............... Does your car have manual air con or climate control |

true about the fuse... trying to cover all the aspects hence I'm thinking less Mine has got climate control, not manual, but both heating and AC work properly, just the air distribution isn't. But since it worked for a while yesterday I don't think is that motor's fault. |

Sounds like a resistor in the front control panel then. These have failed before. 1 member managed a 'repair' but the general consensus was 'just buy a new one' as it's not technically easy. |

Thanks. I'll ask in service to run a CT on it and if needed I can post the "diagnosis" here.

I had a very similar problem on a Renault Clio. The nylon cog with a female fitting was split so that sometimes it turned the male cog on the flap & other times it didn't work. The solution on that was a zip tie around it so the male cog would grip. If the cog is included in the kit, then all the better. |

I have had this problem for about 2 months and just seen this thread. Took the motor off and my white cog was split. Zip tied it as Commodore and FakeConcern said put the motor back and it works fine now!! Thanks so much has been bugging me for ages!

Lots and lots (and lots!) of effort and brute force. A pair of long nosed pliers helped me. It doesn't matter if you break bits of the old one in the process, as you don't need to reuse any of it.

Hey I had the same problem which I fixed today, I did it by taking of the motor, cleaning it for the glue like grease, that's put on by Citroen, and then by removing the white pivot arm cog. I took off the cog with a screwdriver so I wouldn't destroy it like, people have done with pliers, a flathead screwdriver behind it and twitch it, it comes right off, no damage what so ever. I then cleaned it out with some alcohol and a cloth till it was all clean like new, then I did the same to the black arm which it directs in the car, so no more grease was left. I then greased it back up with some really good grease I have for my motorcycle, put a black cable tie around the hexagonal part which had a slit, so it would set snug on the arm from the motor. Put it back in the car, turned it all the way clockwise. Then I connected the motor pressed the demist button, put back in the motor, and voila! It works like a charm. People seems to think its the motor that's the problem, but the thing is, its a stepmotor, they aren't that strong really, so you'll have to make everything else as smooth as possible, so it can do its job. At least that's what my dad told me, he's making a living of fiddling with these small motors, so I'm taking his word for it. Hope this helps some of you with this problem |

Earlier in this thread (Feb 19th 2012) I put some photos which showed the white quadrant that didn't move enough to direct air at the screen unless moved by a gentle push. I finally got round to a proper fix at last! I bought the repair kit now with part number 1607044080 on the box which has lots of bits in including the white quadrant. I removed the carpet and plastic trims as I did in Feb. Undid the two (T20?) torx screws holding the servo on and then used a large screwdriver to ease the quadrant out. The servo has a hexagon drive on it and I could see the quadrant had a socket exactly the same which had split. I pushed the new one in aligning the flap lever into the appropriate place, screwed the servo back on and all works perfectly! Total time was about 15 mins and cost was about £12ish from Dealer 2. Wish I had done it months ago |
