Hi, has anyone replaced the Dual Mass Flywheel and Clutch on a 1.6HDi110 Engine with the Valeo 4P Conversion Kit.

If so, where did you obtain the Valeo Kit from. Also, has the conversion been a sucess?

Regards
G

To answer my own post: I've spoken to Valeo UK technical help and they confirm that there is no Valeo 4P kit for the 1.6HDi 110 engine as fitted to the C4.

So looks as though I will need to replace like with like. Is there any difference between A Valeo DMF and Clutch Kit versus a Sachs equivalent. Any idea which would last the longest.

Also, I am looking at retail £422 for DMF and 3 piece Clutch kit. Any idea if I can improve on this and if so where should I buy from?

thanks
G

The same engines is used in the Pug 307 and they do a kit for that and I can't see where there would be major differences between the 2?

Hi Dave, double checked with a couple of motor factors that there is no 4P clutch & solid flywheel kit for the 1.6 HDi 110 as fitted in the C4. The Pug equivalent might fit but I'd rather not take the chance and I suspect that the vibration characteristics of the gearbox/engine as installed in the Citroen C4 prevent the 4P kit from working sucessfully. (Valeo test and design each kit specifically for the installation including tuning of the long travel damper assembly).

Anyway, looks as though I am stuck with using the OEM system. Wida seem to offer the best price (even before any C4 Owners discount) for the Sachs system.

Best get on with it.

(Clutch failure systems were vibration in pedal, occasional squeal, now very low pedal and smell of burning clutch). The Flywheel has made an intermittent chugging noise when starting from rest around a corner, maybe last year or so.

Well, got the gearbox off the engine. Clutch problem turned out to be the throw-out bearing. It had completely disintegrated, ball bearings and bits of steel everywhere. Lightest looking TOB I have ever seen. Clutch plate and Dual Mass Flywheel looked fine but replaced anyhow whilst I was there.

Just as light as in Volvo 460. (Renault based I think) How on earth they last as long as they do?

Nah Stuey, I wish.
Like the OP found the Valeo 4P unavailable.
