Hi all, I have a 2005 C4 hatchback 2.0 tdi exclusive, it has dual climate control. I only bought the car last month privately but the left side (passengers side) of the air con blows perfect cold air but the drivers side stays at a warm temperature. When I turn the temperature up full both sides heat up but when I turn them both (or individually) the right side still remains warm. My local air con guy says I need a new stepper motor for the right side. Does this sound correct? Has anyone a rough cost of this part before I get ripped off and a rough time for a mechanic to fit it. Thanks Clarke |

Likely complete twaddle: - Click Here - (click the arrow). Its a known fault on the Peugeot-Citroen climate control system. All thats needed is some time and the replacement kit (6450 XZ) from any Peugeot or Citroen dealer - for approx £10 (which allows for two repairs - both sides). |

Just an update, got the kit and fitted it today and it has made no difference whatsoever. Still blowing continual hot air on the drivers side. Does anyone have any more ideas? Thanks Clarke |

I'd say to double check it's installed right first. It's sounds too much like it's the usual problem for it not to be. The gear you fitted should be pretty solid now and not spin freely. I know it takes time, but take the car to pieces again and see what happens to the air flow motor when you change the setting. If you can see or feel it spinning, the gear has not been properly fixed on. If it doesn't do anything its a possibility the motor may have failed. Extremely rare but I guess it can happen. |

I'll give it a go tomorrow night, by changing the setting what exactly do you mean? I was just turning on the air con and setting both sides to low? the air was then blowing out both the middle vents above the cd player where I could compare the left one against the right one. Thanks Clarke |

Just change the drivers side dial to a different temperature. The motor on the drivers side should then move. The system works by mixing a feed of hot air with a feed of cold air. By changing the setting, the flap will move which will change the ratio of hot to cold for that specific side. |

Hi, Just another update, was going to check the housing, etc tonight when the wife came home in the C4 but it's been working all day! She drove it off this morning and it was blowing cold air 100% and has done on the way home and was also working when I took it out earlier. I can only assume that the cogs weren't 100% aligned and the drive of the car made them fit correctly. Thanks for all your help biohead, much appreciated. Clarke |

Hi Dear C4 Owners, I'm new in the group, I have a Citroen C4 VTS Year 2005. A Dream come true being a Citroen lover of WRC. About the topic, at this moment I found this issue of the climate control blowing warm in the left and cold in the right side. I got the kit for repairing and after dismantle the lower part of the dashboard i found the damaged pieces. I was about to replace the broken flaps and gears, but then I realized that after moving the controls the servo motors were not moving. For me even was strange that in the passenger side none of the 3 servos moved so I was thinking it was a blown fuse but everyone was Ok. I re-connected each servo but none of the cables was loose or broken. Now I was thinking that probably could be the electronic control of the air but at least it displays normally and all the buttons are working properly. I appreciate your orientation and support. Thanks in advance, Leonel - Bogotá, Colombia |
