The only way to find out is to write to Citroen UK with all the details of the car and ask. It does appear to be a reasonably common issue going by the posts we get on it |

Latest update - got seat replaced for a contribution from me of £31 - the dealer and Citroen paid the balance - well it was in warranty! Let's hope it lasts a few years. Another problem now with boot catch - repair done under warranty but failed 5 months later and two weeks out of warranty. apparently warranty repairs have no warranty!! If it's not one thing it's another....! |

Hi scally, I also had juddering problem particularly when pulling off, in first year of ownership. Easily sorted. The dealer said they just needed to adjust the timing of something. Sorry I'm not very technical or that into cars! But it was a v easy/quick fix and not had problem since. Ursula |

well i am not very impressed with Citroen UK. My car has done 67k. I have done 32k in the two years of ownership. Citroen UK are refusing to replace the crumbling seat stating that it is fair wear and tear considering the car has done almost 70k, despite the car only being 4 years old. Citroen obviously don't expect their car seats to last a reasonable lifetime of the vehicle and they feel that this is acceptable. I do not see how the car doing a high mileage affects the wear and tear of the seat. £650 for a new seat - no way!! I am waiting for the letter confirming this and i will then seek legal advice, BBC [%*^#@!] etc. This combined with the clutch problem, also refusing to fix, means I will be getting rid of my c4GP asap and will not touch another Citroen again! |

You bought the car used and have no idea how it was treated before you acquired it. If the tone of your post was reflected in your approach to Citroen on the matter, then it's not surprising that they declined to assist. Things may well have been different if you were the original owner and threatening legal action etc. is likely to get you nowhere, other than incurring more expense. |

However, surely a seat should last the life time of the vehicle? i have never had a problem with seats in my past six cars, all which covered a much higher mileage? I could drive long distances every day rather than short distances where i get in and out all the time. I believe that the previous owner did drive long distances to work & visit family, hence the vehicle having such a high mileage when I purchased it. The vehicle was purchased by the first owner from the garage I purchased it from and was serviced on the dot of every service schedule. The dealer knew the past owner well as always replaced his car every two years with them. I apologise for the tone of my last post and this was not the tone of my discussions with Citroen UK but I had not long got off the phone to Citroen after chasing the dealer for several days when the promised to phone me to update me with their progress either by the end of the day or first thing the next day, I ended up calling them every day until I received a response. Then hit with a possible repair bill of over £3k for a vehicle I have owned for under two years, which should last me at least 5 years. I am now stuck with a vehicle I cant afford to repair and will struggle to sell. I would be keen to hear from anyone who has had a similar problems with the seat and clutch and discover how it was resolved, particularly if a dealer did the work out of warranty. I shall still be seeking advice as these parts should last longer than they have for a modern vehicle. many thanks for the support and info provided by users of this website, I have found it invaluable. |

Your tone is entirely justified, Citroen have dropped thier standards on this vehicle and need to acknowledge it and make ammends. Sorry Headadmin but you are presumably a little biased in Citroen's favour, both sides are valid but a more objective approach is required. I have had several Citroens including a C4, two Citroen C5 Eluclusive SE's and a Grand Picasso which are the best cars I've ever driven or owned, it'll take more than the failings of the Grand Picasso to put me off despite having had a gear box replaced, and having just replaced my EGS personally after all the usual EGS problems (I couldn't afford to have Citroen do it). Fact is this is a design flaw pure and simple, it's not cos you've missed a service or 'over used your car', My seat is the same, I've never had a seat crumble on me before even in a Renault of a Ford. Citroen - sort it out cos personally I rely on the great quality and reliability of you cars, but your Interiors/seats and EGS need improvement, the rest is still pretty good thankfully. |

petercollins wrote ... had my seat edge replaced under warranty by evans halshaw citroen darlington We have the same problm on our 2007 C4GP Exclusive. It's covered 65k miles so I didn't hold out any hope of having it fixed under warranty (we have a 2-yr warranty with Evans Halshaw in Mansfield). How old / what mileage is yours? Would be useful to know seeing as it's part of the same dealer group. |

sgadd32 sounds like you have my car... i have other posts about my EGS and gearbox/clutch due to major juddering every time i pull away and was told by dealer dod nnot know what problem is and woudl have to strip everything down and i committ to pay £1000's if not a manufacturing fault. whcih of course it wont be. decided to wait until it completly dies. I have asked two local dealers to reconfig gearbox but they refuse saying this is not necessary, despite me offering to pay and actually taking the car back whils in warantee with the same problem..

We picked up our 57 plate GP in April this year. Had a list of problems with the car, one of which was the crumbling front drivers seat which my local Citroen dealer said would be sorted.Well we're in November and we're still waiting for a new seat, local dealer says its beyond their control as they're waiting for a new seat from France. Has anyone had to wait this long for a new seat?? We're trying to be patient and I appreciate the car is still driveable but can't help but think we're being strung along here. There are other faults still outstanding but local dealer say they'll sort them out in one go.

Do you have Exclusive models? I have been told that the supplier of these seats went bust and it took a while to find a new manufacturer. They are expecting the first shipment early in the new year.
