Hi, I have seen other threads on this same issue, however I thought I would explain mine with a few pictures:

Its just under 3 years old, 20000 miles and this happens:

Broken down and on the back of a recovery truck:

The dreaded warning:

Very important advisory:

Daylight reveals the damage:

I have gathered from the other posts that this is a known fault, does anyone know how long and easy is it to fix?

Your feedback would be much appreciated.

If its under 3 years old its still in warranty.....so don't worry! Isn't a particularly long job....take it to your dealer and let them worry about it.

Hi, C6 Dave and neilos,

@ Dave, I must have missed that post! apologies. Would it be possible for both posts to be merged so that the pictures go with the descriptions in your post?

@ Neilos, yes, warranty should not be an issue, however the "Mrs" without transportation is a bigger headache hence my questioning

Sorry, can't merge threads, but I have copied your post into my reply which will help others.

Whilst I do say it's only a 1/2 hour job, that replies on the garage having parts in stock, which may be unlikely and they will have to come from central warehousing in the UK so it could take a few days I'm afraid, specially with a public holiday on Monday and dealerships being closed over the weekend

I have a 07 C4 GP and being in R of I, am experiencing enormous difficulty with my rear suspension. Spent €1,300 on ECU and Air Bag six months ago. Problem back again and have just taken car out of garage after two weeks when they fitted a "spring". Car is now high as a sky scraper at rear and showing faulty suspension again.

The Service Technician told me that Citroen are having enormous problems with Pneumatic Suspensions and having started to fit them in the successful smaller commercial range, they are starting to impact on the sales of them now. Anybody know where I would get an A/C Pulley and Compressor ? Tx

P.S. Citroen Technician also told me that the Air Bag Compressor suffers during bouts of severe cold weather. From experience of commercial vehicles, we had to drain the air tanks regularly to prevent moisture icing up and blocking lines. This could be related to the current C4 problems ?

This has been happening for a while and over the summer so I don't think it's cold weather related.

Hi Just searching for answers on my C4GP and to my dismay have read many issues that mirror problems I'm having.
Car 4 months out of warranty on 50000 miles and came to a halt on the motorway. In short a valve had fallen through the engine and smashed the pistons and 2 fuel injectors.

New Engine required. Spent £4000 and am trying to re-coupe some of the money through Citroen UK.

Had car back for less than a week when the common "suspension failure" and "service light came on. Car basically collapsed on the suspension. Back to garage and diagnosed with a leak in an airbag, replaced at £300. Less than 5 miles after taking delivery of the car "suspension failure" and sevice lights back on, this time suspension doesnt seem to be dropping, stays in the same place and feels ok to drive...however back to garage and they seem to be running out of ideas, errors in the log and talk of replacing compressor (£1000 +) but they dont seem to know for sure.

Any idea's what this could be? I thought it sounded like setting airbag perameters/configuring but apparently not!
thanks for any advice or info. This is our 1st and last Citroen!

Engine failures are few and far between and if they do fail, it's normally poor maintenance cause a HDi turbo to blow, often destroying the engine, but, it is usually down to poor oil used in changes, cheap filters failing etc.

The suspension issue though is raising it's head more and more on C4GP Exclusives. If your dealer can't help, find another using the reviewer facility - Click Here -

Hello all!
Greetings from Finland! My C4GP Exclusive faced this suspension fault; a couple of days ago right rear bag deflated for good and can't drive it any more. The car is year 2007 2.0 HDi with 57 000 miles. I haven't got any other problems so far and now such a catastrophe occurred. Shouldn't this kind of major problem affect seriously driving safety? You know, Citroen's repair campaigns include quite minor fixings. Now, let's find out what this is going to cost to make my C4GP drivable again!
[Oh! I'm very sorry I've chosen wrong thread - there are just so many same topics under this subject. I sure noticed Dave's link and many thanks for that. I asked prices from Dealer 1 a week ago but haven't got answer yet. This was also a funny thing: I asked 5102R8 part here in Finland: 317 Euros with taxes (23%) AND 5102GN was not in their prise list. I called to Importer and they said 5102GN was indeed in their shelves with price 177 Euros ( tax 23%). They also wondered why nobody has ever ordered this lower price part?!]

An update! Got a call from the dealer, apparently the compressor that feeds the airbag has given up and needs replacing, another £541
this car is sooo bad anger is nearly turning to laughter....if it wasn't for the fact that we have 3 small children and haven't had the car for over 6 weeks
WHAT NEXT!

They are in short supply I'm afraid, so you will have to be patient and join the queue with everyone else

Hi all, I'm a 'newbie' to the forum but throught I'd share my issue and queston.

My C4 2.0HDi EGS Exclusive is about 2.5 years old now and, from new, we've only done about 24,000 miles in her, yet today I've received the dreaded 'Suspension Faulty' message.

Unlike the other posts we've not received any intermittent errors first and the suspension hasn't gone up or down its just stopped.

I'm assuming that this will be covered by the standard Citroen UK warrenty supplied with all new cars, can anyone advise?
