Ah yes, my basic maths has gone wrong, it's 5+ years old. The warranty company has agreed to pay the rest, I'm glad now I read these forums & was aware of the potential issues, and took out an extra warranty just in case! |

Hi All Just new to this forum, just replaced the rear air bags with steel springs on my C4GP, i have Lexia does anyone know of the procedure or have a step by step procedure for re-configuring the ECU's etc. i assume it is mainly the BSi controller that needs re-configuring ?. Any help would be greatful Cheers in advance |

My airbags failed and were replaced at £800 Then the compressor went and locked the suspension height - the price was £1200. I went to Citroen in Southampton and they replaced the air bags with VTR springs and disabled the compressor warnings. £300 inclusive. It cost me a cheap overnight £39 hotel; but was well worth it. The car corners much better too, no pump noises, no alarms and no more collapses on the M1 at 70 mph (yes it did!) Picasso C4 2007 2.0l Exclusive |

C4 Picasso Exclusive 2009. I have had the widely reported problem of air suspension going down randomly when car was parked. It generally pumped itself up OK within half a minute when the car was started. This went on for about 10 months and I just put up with it waiting for it to fail completely! Had 'Suspension Failure' light come on last week and rear didn't always pump up so readily and then gave up totally. I took car in to French Diagnostic Services in Telford (01952 583412) who charge £48 for a full diagnostic check. They have come across the problem many times (with Fiat's as well apparently which share the same components) and knew what to look for. They have the official Citroen software and were very thorough. Because the original fault was intermittent they kept the car in overnight to do tests over a longer period in different scenarios. They discovered that the nearside airbag was leaking. They replaced the faulty bag and charged £246 for the replacement and the diagnostics. I have no connection with this company but would recommend them highly. Great friendly service at what I think is a reasonable price. The suspension has now been up for two days solidly - a miracle, I'm just not used to it! I might now hang on to the car as apart from the this well reported problem it is a decent car. |

I had this problem and I was told by a Citroen mechanic to take the positive battery lead off and re connect after a couple of minutes and it worked for me maybe worth a try | ||||

I had a new pump fitted under warranty 2 months ago which cost the garage (main dealer) £740 + vat at cost to replace but it did take them best part of 6 weeks to finally sort out the problem which included them putting a new battery on and replacing the ride height sensor before finally admitting defeat! I'm off to Eurocarcare next month to have the spring conversion done im not waiting for it to go again! | ||||

Hi guys, I have a C4GP 57 plate that has done 32k miles and on Sunday I noticed my suspension had deflated. It pumps back up when the car starts to move. It has gone down most days since (usually overnight) and it is normally deflated more at the passenger side. I took the car today for a service at a local garage and asked them to check out the suspension. They have sprayed it with some stuff to find a leak but none can be found. Is it still likely to be the air bags or something else? Thanks | ||||

The issue you have now is that if the compressor has to work too hard, it can fail and will need to be replaced at considerable extra expense. You need to find the cause of deflation, then make a decision about what to do. The cheapest option could be to convert to springs like the VTR+ (I'm assuming that you have an Exclusive) |

Thanks, yeah I do have an exclusive. How much are the air bags these days? are they still in short supply? I don't really want to be replacing the air bags though if that isnt the problem, if they are leaking why do they not go down slowly? its either one or the other, inflated or not. | ||||

Thanks, I have decided to go down the spring route. My kit should be coming on tuesday from Eurocarcare. Is there any instructions on the site on how to change it yourself? I have looked in the download section/searched the forum and can only find the odd little explanation, nothing in detail. | ||||

There is a guide somewhere.... Basically, jack up the car with the wheels hanging, uncouple the air bags and pull them out, replace with springs and drop the car back down..... You then need access to Lexia to tell the BSi that the car no longer has pneumatic suspension. |

I know you have now decided to go for springs, but just in case anyone is interested in the bags price I have just had 2 fitted at Duxford Citroen at a cost of £389. My suspension kept dropping overnight and they told me not to leave it as it could damage the compressor and on examination 1 bag had a leak, but they advised replacing both which they had in stock.They also told me they were not sure about the compressor, but give it a try. So far it seems ok but a new one would be around £900 so I think you have taken the right route fitting springs. |
