Ok a little update... I searched the part number 9801906980 and looked at every site i could find... Then to my amazement i found a brand new one on ebay which the guy sold me for £250 - what a result.... I did however for anyone interested find the following firm - Click Here - that will do the following: Thank you for your enquiry We can inspect your unit and repair it subject to condition. To inspect the unit is £35.00 plus carriage and vat. If faulty and repairable the cost is £275.00 plus carriage and vat. The inspection fee is included in the repair cost. If repaired we will put a lifetime warranty on the part. Just for info which may just save someone £500.... |

Ok new Compressor part arrived on Saturday am and dropped at local garage saturday afternoon... Due to bank holiday nothing done until Tuesday morning but by lunchtime i had my car back.... All running well, new air bags, new compressor fitted and working all ok.. On plugging the car in they have told me i have Number 1 Injector leaking... Been quoted £80 + vat supply and fit for repair... Is that a good price ? So in total the airbags and compressor fully fitted cost me £850 ( but got a great deal for compressor).... Was qouted £1500 from main dealer.... |

Thought I would post my experience on getting these replaced I had my airbages replaced a couple of weeks back in under a week under a case with Citroen UK. Also Citroen supplied a hire car free of charge (which I think is why my airbags were done quickly) whilst my car was off the road and paid in full for the replacements parts. Mine is a 59 plate with 23k on clock, just out of warranty The car now works fine however since its been done the car slowly sinks down over night, not quite on the bump stops as before but definitely down. When I get in it in the morning the compressor kicks in and it goes back up to normal height and all is ok. Is this normal behaviour or is something else wrong as a result of the new airbags (i.e a sensor or another leak!)? Also these were replaced with the new part number. Are these a better quality does anybody know? Thanks Brad |

My fellow Hungarian C4GP friends are beginning to encounter the second wave of airbag failures. Two months' waiting times are not uncommon. I directed them to this thread for more info about the coil spring conversion. I had my airbags replaced two years ago. I hope they will hold up for a couple of more years...

kojolaing wrote ... I have continued using my car for short journeys while waiting for parts (air bags) but I am beginning to wonder whether it is the air bags or not... The car doesn't deflate overnight, if I park it inflated, it will stay like that till morning. It has completely deflated twice now, and both times the car was fully loaded. Every other time I have used it with only 2 or three people in the car, it's been absolutley fine..?? Perhaps it is the airbags that deflate over a certain weight, but like I said it's fine overnight... Infact the two times it was deflated and I parked like that, by the morning it had returned to normal. I guess I'll have to wait for the citroen verdict... I'll keep you updated. This is exactly what mine has been doing, so it went in to Citroen today. The result was there were no leaks detected but the software on the ECU updated and told to monitor it and see how I got on. Within 4 hours of getting home the suspension was flat so I phoned Citroen and booked it back in for tomorrow, by the time I got off the phone it had pumped itself back up (without me going anywhere near it). It has since been back down and up again all on it's own. Surely this is a problem with the Control unit?? |

Just dropped mine off at Citroen today, possible leaky airbags and will hopefully find out exactly what it is tomorrow. I was told that my dealer has been waiting 9 weeks for bags so far.

Update, good news received today, after many, many phone calls my dealer has informed me that the bags have arrived and been fitted, Citroen will pay 50% and the dealer will pay 10% towards parts and labour and all within a week of the first phone call.

Good news for me too. Took mine back in on Friday last week, dealer phoned to say one of the airbags did in fact have a leak but there were none in the country. Phoned Citoen UK to complain, they called me back on Monday morning and agreed to provide me with a courtesy car. Monday lunchtime I received another call from Citroen UK to advise me not only had the dealer now got some replacment airbags but they were already fitted on my vehicle and they would also pay for 50% of the parts. Went to pick my car up from the dealers on Tuesday to be informed that Citroen had actually made a mistake and would pay for 100% of the parts. Total cost to me was £45 diagnostic check and £101 for labour. I therfore am one very happy customer!! |

Just to add my story, car is a little over 4 years old, only 24500 miles. The rear suspension just started to sag a few days ago, so I took it in to my local Citroen dealer. They have said the airbags are leaking and the compressor has started to fail, replacement cost for all of this is £1375! Citroen have offered about half this as a 'contribution' Is this similar to what others have been offered by Citroen? Is this a reasonable offer? I'm hoping my after-market warranty company might cover the rest |

At that sort of mileage I would have thought that the contribution may be larger but the car is 5+ years old, not 4 if it's an April 2008 registration......
