I can't wait to get my c4 now. Ha.

What's the mpg like on a petrol engined vtr? Looking at the price of the diesel's I'm going to struggle to get one with low-ish mileage on it.. They all have about 80k miles on in my price range, so I'm probably going to have my hand forced to buy a petrol.

Cheers

I managed about 30mpg in the 1.6 petrol and that was local driving. I guess motorway driving you'd be looking at about 40 when sensible.

The 1.6HDi though can realistically be looking at 60mpg... so is it worth the initial extra cost to get nearly double to a tank?

If you can afford it the 2.0 petrols get similar MPG to the 1.6.

The initial cost difference soon disappears when the car is bought used, though diesel service intervals are more frequent but about the same price.

For someone doing long distances/higher annual mileages (>15,000 mi/year) the lower fuel consumption soon outweighs the other costs.

And if the long distance driving includes mainland Europe, then the lower cost of diesel fuel over there makes the 1.6HDi a complete winner.

I went from a C2 VTS petrol to a C4 VTR+. Its definitely much quieter and much smoother on the motorway. As everyone says the 110HDi is the one to get

I did 350 miles round trip with only one stop half way and another half way back for some food etc.

My C4 VTR+ HDI EGS did just over 50 mpg but I wont say how long or short time I took !!!!!!!!!!!!

But I did set off at 5 30 am

Yeah, I am lucky that I can also look around the leeds area for a car as well as my gf lives there, I will defo try and get a Diesel.

I have test driven a couple c4's now and I understand what you all meant by a superior build quality and more comfortable ride.

Can't wait to get one.

long journeys are never a problem in the C4 - resently did a solid 2000km drive and never got tired, only stoped for fuel and the loo - never longer than 15 min. Espesialy in SA's harse conditions this car realy surprises

Indeed the only downside of the C4 for long journeys is there is no onboard toilet.
The longest journey I have done is 4.5 hours, and was glad to see the loo after that.

At the risk of making this thread lavatorial, empty coke bottles have a much bigger capacity and are much cheaper. Not to be used at 70mph on the motorway.:)
