Well i picked up my 2007 C4 picasso egs exclusive last saturday and have been using it everyday, and so far i am reasonably happy with it, i say reasonably because it takes a while to get used to a new car. I must admit i am having doubts as to whether i should have bought the egs, at the moment i am finding it difficult to get used to, the car doesn't always change gear when i think it should, and i don't seem to be able to take my foot of the accelerator at the right time which means the car is a bit jerky, will this get better or should i have bought a manual gearbox. The other thing i noticed is when the heater is on, if i put the car in reverse the front windscreen blower comes on full blast, surely this cant be right, has anyone else had a similar issue ? Rod |

Rod That's a strange one. I have never had a GP but the C4 Hatch certainly didn't do it nor does the C6 or my old C3. If the car has reverse sensors it should quieten the radio so you can hear the audible tone better. Having the fan blower go into demist mode negates that. It needs looking at by a dealer and ask them to have a look at the software version for the EGS at the same time as it may require an upgrade. Also have a read of this: - Click Here - There are lots of threads on how to drive a car with EGS |

My GP Exclusive does the same with the climate control, and I think you'll find its one of the 'many' undocumented features of our cars! What I think you'll find is happening is that the recirculation mode is switched on (by design) as soon as you move the gear selector into reverse. This is designed to stop fumes from the car entering the cabin when you move backwards. It tends to sound like the blowers are coming on at the front of the car when it does this on my GP. The climate control (which you will have) will not reflect this temporary recirculation mode on its display whilst you make the manoeuvre, but will simply revert back to its ordinary climate control setting once you move the gear selector out of reverse and into Auto. |

I agree.. it won't be the fan speeding up, just the recirc being activated therefore giving the impression the the blower has sped up. It's perfectly normal. My C5 does it too. |

Thanks for that information guys, thats put my mind at ease. I guess i will have to persevere with the driving of the egs, although i have read some conflicting information regarding the gearbox, some people say that you need to take your foot off the accelerator to prevent clutch wear and other people say you don't have to take your foot off, because it doesn't wear the clutch, so clarification on that matter would be useful. | ||

I can recommend a calibration of the gearbox/clutch, you will find it changing gears smoother! If you have access to a Lexia you can do it yourself, I have written a short description here on the forum about it. Otherwise try and get the garage to do it! |

Well you can leave it on but surely a mild lift of the accelerator when changing gear is a good thing. It'd be like changing gear in a manual without lifting off the accelerator. Not massively going to wear the clutch if you shift quick enough. However it isn't as smooth a drive. And it will wear it a little more. Which over the life of the car could probably add up a bit. Most of us, who have gotten used to the EGS. Tend to say lift off the gas pedal when changing gear. You will find it is just an altogether smoother drive if you do. |
