May I ask a question?

Is this switch responsible for random EPS/ABS errors? I find that in the hot weather I get these happening quite regularly and it seems to be related to how you brake (ie., NOT hard). I've been ignoring the error because it doesn't affect the brakes actually working, but if this switch is responsible, then I'll replace it. TIA, cheers Deb

Yes, did for me along with parking brake warnings for the electric one on the C6

It's a cheap fix (if you buy it from the UK and [ Dealer 1] and you have nothing to loose by changing it.

It will at least rule the possibility out.

I too was plagued by the ESP/ABS fault warning light until I read this thread. I got the new switch and loom extension from my Local Citroen dealer for £23.75, fitted it 3 weeks ago and so far no further problems.

Having this issue with my car at the moment, will be popping into my local dealer tomorrow afternoon to buy the switch in question. Can I point out for future forum members reading this thread that at the very least the brake lights won't be working every time you press the brake pedal and may actually not light up at all, so you risk being rear-ended.

Have replaced mine today and so far the brake lights are working with each press of the pedal and so far the ABS/ASR/ ESP System Faulty message hasn't reappeared.

Possibly and it's a cheap option to rule out at under £30.

Hey guys, I had my brake light switch and loom replaced today in my 2005 C4 VTS, after experiencing an ABS and ESP fault on the dash. Here in Australia the genuine parts cost me $82, though, get this; the part I purchased separately, and are genuine, but they are sell it as a kit for double the price. Same thing happened last week when I went to purchase the timing belt/water pump etc. As a kit, about $100 more, very strange. Anyhow, the guys who service Citroen cars here told me that the brake light switch was a very very common problem, and car runs like a dream now, no faults thus far. They also told me that Citroen modified the loom/wiring harness from the original one so this should also be changed.

On another note, a BIG thanks to CamM who last week met up with me and helped me to enable my reverse parking sensor car image on the screen.

That would be the one they said wasn't possible to do
