Hello all, my mot was fine but they mentioned slightly corroded rear brakes? Do i need to change them? Also i have heard people say i need a puller of some sort to get the disc/bearings off. I didn't see one in the helpful pics above. Any help or useful comments much appreciated. Thanks again

No pullers are required to remove the discs but you may require a rewind tool for the brake pistons when fitting new pads.

Changed my Rear discs and pads on my 57 C4 last year. The callipers need to be removed only if you have to change the discs (& bearings). The Torx bolts that hold the callipers were exceptionally tight. I broke the impact driver I borrowed! The problem is that not only are they tight, they are Loctited in, so every turn is a difficult as the first! Hiring an electric impact driver from a local hire shop for £15 for the day was very good value. Heating the bolt heads with my plumbing (propane mix) torch was also required to soften the Loctite. Getting the bolts out was the only difficult thing about the job. I changed the bolts after mangling the heads on a couple. They are available from Citroen for reasonable cost. Also, the handbrake is now back to an "as new" feel. |
