Has anyone replaced the brake light switch, or did you get the dealer to repair?
Cheers, Jamie

Several people have Jamie and there are posts on it

It's in the passenger footwell, behind the carpet/soundproofing somewhere (can't be exact as never had to do it)

I've ordered one from Citroen but won't be putting it in till it's off the road.

I've priced the switch (p/n 453463) at the local dealer and it works out at £7.75 including v.a.t, there's also a loom (p/n 6582ga) which is £27.50 inc v.a.t, or a kit which is both and a clip for £30.86 inc v.a.t

Not sure if any one's replaced it and done a guide, so I'll try and do one if I get round to it over the week end.

Hopefully i have fixed the problem, here is a how to.

In the passenger foot well, there are three plastic rivets which need to be removed and placed safely together.

They are easily removed by griping the inner part and pulling out.

Here's the Switch. i purchased just the switch, but you can get a kit with a new loom which i was told has a resistor in it.
To remove the switch, grip and rotate the switch 90 degrees anti clockwise, the disconnect the connector.

When replacing the old switch for the new one, you need to set the plunger new switch to the same length as the old one.

This is done by pushing or pulling taking care not to damage it.

Replace the switch by pushing it into the hole and rotating clockwise 90 degrees. turn on ignition and check that the brake lights work, if not the switch plunger might not be set to the correct length.

hopefully now you wont have the esp/abs warning.

If i do get the warning, i will change the loom next time.

All those you mention can be caused by the same faulty switch

Just fitted my new sensor, very very easy to to do

I did get the loom with mine and was gonna replace everything at the same time but, an inch or so after the original plug the wires join another set of wires from somewhere, and a few more inches after that they join an even bigger set, and i didnt want to mess around with the wiring, so ive left it off for the moment as ive not a clue where it all goes

Just had mine done........ bought my C4 2 litre diesel recently and it had a few error codes, the ESP/ABS lights had started to come on over the last few days, so went in to my local independent Citroen dealer.

They gave it a full diagnostics and reset the error codes. £33.60. This pinpointed the brake switch at fault (as expected)

As I had left it there for the day, I got them to fit a new switch and loom kit. which they charged £25.63 for the kit and £24 labour (half an hour labour rates).

I did look at the switch before taking the car in, it's pretty easy to get to and straight forward to change.

All in all pretty satisfied with service and a good rapport developed with small independent.

If they only charged for 30 min the new loom sounds like it shouldn't be such a difficult job????

The loom goes on the end of the switch!! That's where I connected to anyways! and I've had no problems since fitting both switch and loom!

OK see the last pic of the switch ^ unplug it, plug one end of the loom inside it and the other end in the the one you just unplugged! It's a bridge it goes between the switch and the original plug on the end of it!!
