Not yet, the body shop mechanic took a look and suggested the best course may be to drill up from underneath which would mean removing the headlining, air bag curtain etc, and drilling a hole through the second part of the cage to get to the bottom of the mount... However they may be able to weld on a nut and just unscrew it all out or be able to drill it. I shall have to book it in when I get back from Scotland, but will be looking at a minimum 2 hrs work - poss more depending on what they think is best.

Update: Picked Sienna up from body shop, who have had the car for 2 days. They were unable to get it out in any of their practiced ways, so 1.5 days of them having the car has been waiting for them to hear from the Citroen Dealer in this town for an exploded diagram of that section of the roof/gutter panel where the mount is, and whether they will be able to get the part required before giving me a quote! GRRR, that dealer again who were so unhelpful when I first took it to them... the saga continues.

It's not too late to try this, If there is a bit of broken stud sticking up put a clean nut on the top and weld with a tig the stud to the nut, let it cool down a bit and you will find the heat will help the nut turn with a socket on the original threads.

Good Luck

Unfortunately that was what I was hoping for, but alas, sheared off at the base, no thread available.

Dave that is exactly what they are waiting for! Is it available in pdf in the downloads with the part number (specifically number 12)?

This is likely to be it, but I didn't have your VIN number to be sure. - Click Here -

**update on progress**

I have finally recieved a quote from Just Car Clinic (body shop) to have the mount point replaced with OEM parts (Thanks Dave) after god knows how many weeks of them contacting the local Dealer to get the parts. It is now booked in for next Tuesday - 2 day allowance for works to be done. The final quote was a smidgen under £100 (£99.68 or something).

So hopefully soon I will be able to fit my roofrack and then get some bike rails and go cycling very soon. Will take pics of bike on car when all done.

Thanks everyone for the help, and please, anyone else having trouble with roofbars, heed this experience which has turned out to be quite costly!

Everyone, I would like to introduce my brother! whose roof bars have been sitting in my lounge ever since the start of this debarkle. Once fitted then yes, you shall recieve payment.. possibly in person, seeing as the postman in Wales can't seem to deliver post securely and within time!

Don't know what I'm missing here, but drilling your car to fit a roof rack? I got one off eBay for £40 and had it on in 10 minutes.

If you read through the number of threads on this issue, the mounting points on the car are threaded and require cleaning prior to the fitting of the roof rack.

The Citroen tool or the bolts are prone to shear off in the threaded holes and thus need drilling out or a replacement mounting plate welded in place.

John : I did not realise there was an issue with shearing tapping bolt provided before it happened and it was too late, and had to drill out sheared bit.

This thread was started to let others be aware of the situation they could be in if they did the same as me.

I see, it's cleaning of the thread, not drilling and tapping! Makes more sense .
