C4owners has invited us to start an "oil recommendations" thread here... so if you would like any oil advice or a recommendation for your car please feel free to ask here and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

To help us to give the most accurate advice possible we do need some information about your car. e.g.

Make:
Model:
Year:
Engine type:
Performance modifications:
Driving style: (road / off-road / track etc)

Any other information that may be relevant: e.g. approx BHP if modified, oil temps if known

What recommendation are you looking for? Engine, Gearbox, Diff etc.

Any oil we recommend is available to buy from us (if you would like to) for delivery throughout the UK and many destinations in Europe. We stock oils & lubricants from 9 major oil brands: Amsoil, Castrol, Fuchs, Gulf, Millers, Mobil, Motul, Redline and Silkolene, so we can supply fluids meeting the vast majority of manufacturer and international specifications.

C4owners members get a discount of at least 10% on our usual prices... just choose "C4owners" as your club when registering on the Opie Oils web site and enter your forum username.

Finally, if there are any products we don't stock and you have difficulty getting hold of elsewhere, let us know and we'll see if we can stock them.

We look forward to being of help!

Cheers
Guy, Opie Oils

Engine holds 5½ ltrs of oil but doesn't empty out completely on an oil change, refill with 5 ltrs initially then top up as needed till dipstick reads right.

And ensure you use a genuine Citroen filter.

I've always used full synthetic 5W-30 grade oil on my DV6C turbo engine. I've always used an engine oil flush prior to oil change and filter change (oil filter was always changed at every oil change which is every 10,000kms), I live in Australia so I've used a local oil called PENRITE or NULON oils. In the Citroen C4 manual its recommends using only 5W-30 synthetic low SAP oils for the DV6C turbo HDi. The following is Citroens recommendation for all engines except HDi with FAP is; TOTAL ACTIVA 9000 or TOTAL QUARTZ 9000, SAE-5W-40/ACEA-A3 B4/PSA B71-2296. For HDi engines Citroen recommends; TOTAL ACTIVA INEO ECS or TOTAL QUARTZ INEO ECS, SAE-5W-30/ACEA-C2/PSA B71-2290. And there is a WARNING for C4 2.0, 180hp that its essential to use exclusively the TOTAL ACTIVA/QUARTZ 9000/5W-40 (A3/B4)

The first time I changed the engine oil on my C4GP I used Millers fully synthetic. On the last oil change I got Total Quartz, a genuine filter and a sump plug washer from my local dealer. I did a flush using the BG109 and I also added BG Diesel Oil Conditioner (DOC) to keep the oil in peak condition for longer. I won't need to do any more flushes and all future oil changes will be with Total Quartz from the dealer with genuine oil filters. I change my engine oil every 6 months.
