Thought you might all be interested in this - Having already gone through getting a Merc. A Class with Xenon, H.I.D. headlights 'converted' for foreign use, I was very careful to get exact advice before I took my C4 away to France, in June : - Here is (most) of the E-mail I sent to Citroen (UK) : Hello, I am the proud owner of a brand new, Citroen C4 VTS Coupe, 180 Reg: KN57 VIN: VF7 RP. No. As this vehicle is fitted as standard with Automatic adjusting Dual Function Xenon Headlights, with adaptive turning facility, and I am just about to take the car for ten days, to the south of France, I require to know : - 1. Does this car require Headlight Beam Converters. and 2. If it does, do you supply these as an accessory, either with or without headlamp protectors and 3. If so, can you give me the required part numbers and retail price. Regards, This was the reply I received: - File /Case Dear Thank you for your e-mail dated 29 May 2008. The latest information obtained from our Technical Department confirms that, there is no legal requirement for the fitment of headlight templates for the Citroën C4 model range. Vehicles with non-Xenon light fitments have an internal beam adjustment (please refer to owner's manual), to ensure that lights can be lowered to avoid dazzling on-coming continental drivers. Vehicles with Xenon light fitments have automatic adjustment and the fitting of a template can damage the light unit. I hope the above clarifies matters and I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us. Yours sincerely CITROËN UK LIMITED CUSTOMER CONTACT CENTRE . I carried a copy of this, whilst I was abroad, but it was not required. And apart from the odd driver, indeed, I did not get flashed! - You just have to remember to dip your lights earlier, no matter what country you drive in, as the lights are 'adaptive', and follow (for a few degrees) the steering angle. Regards, Loeb rencar wrote ... As others have said here, the lights do not need adjustment. I have the directional xenons on my GP and I emailed Citroen about this subject. Mainly to keep their response in the car in case of an issue whilst in France. I've listed their response below: Thank you for your e-mail dated 1 April 2008. We have been advised by our parent company, in France, that the Xenon headlamps fitted to your UK specification of the Citroën C4 Grand Picasso are suitable for short visits or holidays to European countries. However, if you are intending to take up residency or stay for an extended period you may need to change your headlamps to meet local regulations. Assuring you of our best attentions, Yours sincerely CITROËN UK LIMITED STEPHEN STEVENS CUSTOMER CONTACT CENTRE I have driven numerous times in France and not had any problems. |
